Here is video capture of what the Corel Tech recorded via remote session the other day of one of the issues I am having upgrading to X8u on 2 completely different machines. Note that any of the FX that spit back the error code completely disappear upon adding the bonus & content files...

Re: VSX6 --> VSX8 upgrade ...install problem?
Well, needless to say this has Corel absolutely stumped... After few sessions & phone calls with their awesome support for this.
On a search today I noticed that I am not the only person having this exact same issue, although they are experiencing this exact same issue on X7pro earlier this year...
And if I had to bet that if 2 people are having this same issue? My guess is there are more that haven't even bothered to chime in on it and are probably totally oblivious of whats missing and/or broken/missing from within their VS menus. And probably even more so for a first time users perspective from never using VS-Xx. Or simply just wrote off Corel & returned the product...
Which is unfortunate... I've been using Corel's great products for decades now. Especially Painter without ever having any issue what-so-ever!
Maybe I'll just nuke one or both machines and try to see whether it's machine/hardware conflict or software conflict.. or both maybe. or...

Hi
Did you follow up on your graphics drivers as to whether there are others that may be more suitable.
I realise you have a new system but so was mine and I did not expect to update them?

Yeah both Austin & I have checked & rechecked on the current versions anyway... and a million other avenues we can even remotely just poke and prod at as what the culprit causing the problem but only find nothing conclusive...lata wrote:Hi

Before even resorting to support I did try the original drivers for the Raedon 57XX 1Gb (currently back in it) and tried a few random in-between driver versions and no change... And I also tried this with the newer 2Gb Graphics card I upgraded to a few months ago, EVGA 750TIsc, which is going back in shortly. So I think it's pretty safe to say it's definatley not something stemming from the graphics card end...
Neither of my machines are "new" but both are well beyond requirements for X8.. And this is also whats throwing a million curves at Corel support as well as there is nothing obvious pointing to the fail. Whats even more goofy is X6 works without any hitch no matter how many times I reinstall it... Install X8 it persists, even if both X6 & X8 are present on the system simultaneously.
Main studio box is a Dell XPS Studio 8100 that I purchased it new late 2010 and my Laptop is an ASUS G74SX I also purchased new early 2012-13. And neither of them. since new, have ever given me a second of error. I do also fully backup & maintain my machines externally quite well. And I regularly nuke them at least once a year, just out of habit.
Like I said this is one hell of a head-scratcher for everyone thus far...
I still aint giving up on this yet though...

Re: VSX6 --> VSX8 upgrade ...install problem?
Like several users here I have had serious issues getting VSX8 to install. I have the full vesrion (ultimate) downloaded from Corel.
Everythiugn seemed to install but when I started up the first time and it went through an initialisation stage it got trhough the first lot OK but during the VFX stage it got stuck at 80% on Page5.vfx effect.
I re-tried 3 times but same thing.
However I tried an expereiment after re-dowmloading the install fiels as well as suggested by orel support.
This time I did everything in stages. Installed main program, fired up VSX8 and it went through the initialisation process OK.
Closed down, installed the contents. Once done fired up VSX8 again and this time everything initialised OK
Closed down and installed the bonus pack one by one each time firing up and closign down.
This time it all seemed to be OK
I am repeating the process on my other PC and yet again it stopped at the very same place. I have cleaned out the installation and (when I have got time) going to do teh slow, stage by stage install - fire up - close down routine and see if that make a difference.
Maybe some you out there who have been having install problems coudl also try that toutine and see if it works for you (i.e. strage by stage - fire up- initialise -close down -install next module) It wopu;d be interesting to see if it was just a fluke when I got my to finally install doing it this way or if there is somehting in it, that when it tries to intialise ev erything at the first start-up there is some kind of conflict.
Watch this spoace I'll let you knwo in a day or so if this slow, staged process does work in my 2nd PC or not.

Hi, I know this is an old post but did anyone resolve this?
I have just upgraded from x6 to x8 Ultimate and I have the same problem. I have just been following a tutorial and found that most of the transitions are missing.

Hi
MrCurryLover
And welcome to the forums
Can you give us more info on what you have actually installed
The program comes with three installation EXE files with an additional Bluray file.
Have you installed all service packs provided for the program?
What files are you missing, can you provide a screen shot?
I have had problems in the past with library content, the problem was associated with my computer and the Graphics Driver ----- that was a new laptop.

Re: VSX6 --> VSX8 upgrade ...install problem?
Hi Trevor,
Q. Can you give us more info on what you have actually installed
The program comes with three installation EXE files
A. These are the files that I installed
VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_1Main.exe
VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe
VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe
Q. Have you installed all service packs provided for the program?
A. When the install was finished I checked for updates and it found and installed some. The version I am running is 18.5.0.25
Q.What files are you missing, can you provide a screen shot?
So far I know that I am missing some transitions. I followed this tutorial http://learn.corel.com/video/tutorials/ ... ne-Filters and found that I didn't have the proDAD filter. The only transitions that I do have are displayed below (Overlay Transitions)

Thanks,
Mark

Re: VSX6 --> VSX8 upgrade ...install problem?
Hi Sorry I missed your earlier reply
The Adorage filter should be within the FX filter library panel, your image shows the Transition library.
When I select FX the "All" category shows Adorage as the second clip.
They are of course in alphabet order.
Drop down the All to reveal a full list with Pro Dad at the bottom.
There have been some issues displaying Graffiti Pro Dad but the last Service Pack marked Hot Fix should have cured that.

Re: VSX6 --> VSX8 upgrade ...install problem?
Hi Trevor,
Thanks for the reply.
The video tutorial above that I posted shows the user going into the the transitions menu (see below), when I go to the transitions all I get is the bottom option, which is 'Overlay Transition', All I get is 'My Favourites' and 'Overlay Transition' I don't get 'All'
I downloaded the latest patch and applied that and it hasn't added anything. I don't know if there are any other items missing.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: VSX6 --> VSX8 upgrade ...install problem?
This thread has grown rather long and I don't have the time right now to go back through every post in it. But have you tried going to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) and changing the name of the "18.0" folder to "18.0_OLD", and then restarting VS. The folder will be recreated, and usually it contains things missing from an earlier installation.

Re: VSX6 --> VSX8 upgrade ...install problem?
Hi,
I have sorted it now thanks.
So here's the steps that I took.
I didn't uninstall anything
I opened right clicked on VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe and selected run as administrator
Then I changed the default location to extract the files to a new folder on my Desktop (I tried other places first and it wouldn't let me as the paths were over 100 characters)
When the folders were extracted I chose to install all items.
I then changed the 18 folder again to old and started up Video Studio, hey presto all of the transitions were there and there was also loads of graffiti projects in the Instant Project folder.
So not sure if it was an admin/permission problem but it looks all good now.
Thanks very much for the advice,

Re: VSX6 --> VSX8 upgrade ...install problem?
Good day, I have the same problem after upgrading from X6 to X8, I miss a lot of transitions, including Fade to Black & Flashback, which were the most I used. I submited the problem and technicians from Corel may give me an answer soon.
