In Directory View, browsing the Mac filesystem, AFP defaulted to ~/, my user folder.
In order to access other photos, and external volumes, I need to move up a directory or two. I cannot figure out how to accomplish this so I can browse externals (NOT import).
And I'm wondering if I can browse USB attached iOS devices.
Move up a directory in Directory View on Mac??

Re: Move up a directory in Directory View on Mac??
On my machine I can start my browsing anywhere as the last used directory is the first reload point.
Reset to no directory.
My default test directory.
Reset to no directory.
My default test directory.
Still learning after all these years!

I agree I SHOULD have that. But don't.
There is no way to fix this if you're stuck with it other than reinstalling. Which costs you other prefs.

Why should a re-install fix that?Oakland211 wrote:I agree I SHOULD have that. But don't.

And why should a re-install mess up your preferences?
A re-install will not touch ýour settings. But, somewhere some of your settings are hosed. And they reside together with your preferences in some PLIST.
Find out where your settings hit on the mac (Help->System Info).
Copy that stuff safely away and then nuke your old settings.
Start AS to see if the navigation is back in a civilized state.
Then copy back your presets etc...
If that does not fix it, then the problem resides in some QT preferences that are not stored in your user directory. Might be in
~/Library/Preferences/com.Corel.AfterShotPro5.plist
cheers

Re: Move up a directory in Directory View on Mac??
Brute force to be sure, but it worked.
Although it took other preferences with it, merely annoying but not a huge deal. I didn't have much in the way of presets or other stuff so it was mostly the sort of things that are set in the application's prefs; I would know how to remove data like presets (if I could find them; I'd look in ~/Library/Application Support). And I don't import files, I browse them so the database and even the container with the XMPs for adjustments wasn't a concern.
And yes, I searched for those prefs. I knew they are most often stored in ~/Library/System Preferences, but either I overlooked them there or they weren't there (this wasn't the current version). There is NOTHING in Corel's documentation on how to remedy the problem where it defaulted to the incorrect directory. So I assumed I'd have to get rid of prefs. I assume for future reference you are confirming the default directory is set upon installation and can't be changed after that; good to know although I am hoping the original problem won't repeat itself. I recall choosing some directories upon installation, but not that one; only ones for storage of the catalog. It installed perfectly this time around. And frankly, given that the first installation was borked, I'd prefer that I start again before I commit lots of data to it.
BTW, it's ~/Library/System Preferences/com.corel.AfterShot Pro v2.plist.
Thanks,
Rob
