Playback Problems VS X8 Trial version

Hi all,
After viewing many tutorials and reviews on Video Studio Pro X7 (impressed) I decided to download a trial, however only MS X8 was available as a trial.
I am a novice but got on quite well & found it quite straight forward to use......However while working on and playing back my project the videos are very badly distorted.
I've tried uninstalling & re-installing but the problem still remains......Can anybody please tell me how to fix this issue?..... As I say I am a novice not a tech, I just want to make a few family & music videos but this fault makes it very difficult......Also is really worth buying Video Studio X8?

If your video files are Avchd types you may benefit by enabling Smart Proxy

Go to Settings Smart Proxy Manager, enable
Then adding a video to the top track should activate smart proxy that will create a proxy file.
It does take a while to create so view Settings Proxy Manager Queue and File manager to check progress, you will see a small double icon on the clip when Proxy Files have been created.

Oh Press F6 for preferences, change the Clip Display Mode to Thumbnail only, that will change the clips view in the timelines.

Also you need to be aware that the X8 trial version has some severe limitations and is not able to burn DVDs or Blu-Ray discs, plus some other things. It is meant only to give an indication of what is possible. Some of us think the full version is pretty good, though if you see a cheap version of X7 offered by a reliable store at a (much) cheaper price, it will almost certainly fill your needs.

Hello again & thanks for you quick reply it's nice to speak to someone also in the U.K.

I have tried that and there is a marked improvement, but there is still a degree of pixilation. Is there anything I can do to improve it further.
Do I just have to do the proxy bit to the first video with the rest then being done automatically?
Not sure what Avchd means but I assume it's audio visual high definition.
The videos I'm working with were shot at 1920 X 1080 & properties show them as MP4.

Hi Aljanon

Once Smart Proxy has been enabled, all new clips added to the timeline should auto create the proxy files, for existing clips, right click to select (use Shift + Click to select multiple clips) then Right click Create Proxy files.

Avchd (Audio Video High Definition) I assume Video but Visual is as good.

If you render the video clips to your output format do they play ok using one of your media players. If so then it’s a Project Playback issue.

We don’t know if that’s a trial version issue as Ken mentioned the trial has been cut down a lot.
But if you can make a sample available maybe to Windows One Drive or DropBox we will try on the full version.
