Thank you for your reply, however no sound is coming from by video clips and I thought that this was because the programme wasn't loading properly due to the quick time warning.

Hi Cliff

No it was just information, the program would have installed ok.

What type of video are you using?
How did you record the video.
What are the properties of the video file, right click a clip in the timeline and select properties?

If you wish create an image of that window and attach to your post.

Hi Cliff

They look pretty much standard, what camera are you using.?

Set your project properties to match the video files properties.

Go to Settings – Preferences – tick Show messages when inserting first clip.
Start a new project –Add one of the MTS files to the top timeline.
You should get a message asking to match the project properties,
View the details the right panel shows your video properties.
Choose OK / Yes

Using HD video you may need to activate Smart Proxy from Settings
Adding a video will create proxy files, they do take a while, view Settings Smart proxy queue and File manager for progress

One other possibility for the trial version not be able to play what otherwise appears to be standard Dolby audio might have to do with various other limitations the X8 trial version seems to have. Corel in their collective wisdom have stripped out other features most of us have come to take for granted, and it seems they did so to avoid having to pay licensing fees for those features. Since a licensing fee has to be paid to Dolby for every use of their codec, it could be that this too has been stripped out of the trial version. Since none of us here work for Corel, though, there is probably no way of confirming this.

Thank you for your replies.
I have adjusted the settings, but it is still the same. Music clips all play ok. but not the audio in the video clips.
When the same clips are loaded into vs prox6 all always work alright.
I am not sure what the icons that keep appearing on the toolbar from Haali are doing.

My complete system is
Windows 7 home premium
Service pack1 Processor AMD Athlon (TM) 11x 4
620 2.60 GHZ
Ram 3.gb

The main thing now is do I spend out on the full version hoping it will work

Regards

Hi Cliff

As Ken mentions the trial version of X8 is a bit limited, It has been somewhat stripped of many features.

Your video uses 50P as well as Digital Dolby, I doubt that the trial would use that, however you should be able to edit the video but not replicate it.

I did install the trial X8 but did not go as far as rendering my files, so cannot confirm if your videos would work, if not then Corel have certainly messed up the program.
Maybe I should re-install the trial, I think I have 20 days left.

Are you able to upload a sample to a sharing site, maybe Windows One Drive or DropBox, we can then test your video on the full version.

Sorry we can not give a definite fix, we simply don’t know if it’s the trial or your PC / Video?
A sample would help

Thank you for your replies, I have now been in touch with Corel who have no idea why I cannot get the sound.
They have said that the full version may not work also.
So I will stay with version 6

Thanks

Hi Cliff

That’s very good of Corel, surely if X6 has no problems then the latest software should work.
I would like to badger Corel on this issue but need a sample from you so I can test to double check the trial problem, and that its not your computer.
If I can replicate the problem then I will press them a little harder.

I downloaded the trial and to be honest is not fit for purpose, if I relied on that to test my HD clips I would not purchase……

So if you can upload that would be good, otherwise I can share a folder from my One Drive to allow you to upload. Just let me know…Cheers
