Dear All,
I have tried capture movie from my camcorder (JVC GR-D270) into my PC through USB connection, but it was failed. My Camcorder has a two recording media , a SD card (to save still images /photos), and a tape for save the movies. I have no problem when get still images from my camcorder(memory mode) to my PC, but it always failed when capture the movies from a tape(video mode). I am using Ulead Video Studio version 7. It looks that Ulead could not recognized the device.
On my JVC's user guide, it said that video from tape can capture/save into PC using USB connection, but I found that it was not work.
Please, give me a solution or may be anyone from JVC can help me.
Regards,
Romeo.
Thank a lot.

Your camera has a Firewire port (may be called i-link) located near the USB port -- I think that is under the flap on the bottom of your camera. Unfortunately, the manufacturers never supply a Firewire cable, so people always think they use the USB cable. In the case of your camera, you have a USB 2.0 port, which in theory has the speed to transfer high quality video, but I understand that even so, as bop has already said, the USB port and cable is only used for transfer of still photos from your SD card. To transfer high quality video, you MUST use the Firewire port.
First you have to make sure your computer has a Firewire port. If not, you will have to buy a Firewire card and add it to one of your PCI slots inside the computer.. I have no idea how much they might cost where you live, but here in Australia, you can buy one for about US$28.
Next, you have to buy the right cable. Normally, the Firewire port on your camera is a small one with 4 pins. On the other hand, the normal size of the Firewire port on a computer is much larger - 6 pin. If this is the set-up you have, then you need to buy a 4 pin to 6 pin cable. Unfortunately, a good cable will cost nearly as much as the Firewire card (at least it does here in Australia!)
