Can You Override the Clip/Project Auto Selecting?

Can You Override the Clip/Project Auto Selecting?
While I can see an advantage to having it on at times I would prefer to be able to turn it off. After adjusting a clip I tend to want to play immediately from the timeline. Also, I think the source of some confusion for editors is the playback of clip sources while expecting the project to play.

When you click on a clip to adjust or edit it VideoStudio changes to clip mode to allow you to work on it
if you want to play the project then just click on the small word 'project' next to the play icon
how would an automatic system detect whether you wanted to play clip or project

Switching to project preview can be achieved a bit quicker by just clicking on the timescale or an unoccupied track, but you probably knew that.
If, like me, you use the space bar to play and pause, then a useful feature would be the the addition of Shift forcing playback to the Project mode, maybe ALT switching to the current clip under the scrubber.

That's a great idea! And yes, I use the space bar by habit as well as J,K,L.

DTVP, are you using a rollback version of Win 8.1? Do you like using Win 8 on your edit system?
Do you cut 4k?
Do you find the i7 to be quick in general and when rendering output?
Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by a rollback? I don't really see any difference between editing in W7 or W8. My laptop runs W7.Umatic wrote:DTVP, are you using a rollback version of Win 8.1? Do you like using Win 8 on your edit system?
I've played with 4K, but I only have a GoPro 3+ Black, so 12.5 fps. Whatever editing package I use, it needs proxy files IMHO. The advantage of an i5/7 is that the Intel Quicksync routines seem to be optimized for then. I assume the VS uses Quicksync, but I haven't got that far into it yet.
