Files for projects

Post by conrail6055 »

Hi guys,

Can someone confirm this for me - when creating a project with VSPX7, you bring photos and video clips from your hard drive to your VSP library. Now, I would have thought once you had those files in your library you'd be good to go but I've discovered if I move the files from one folder to another, or rename them on my hard drive, that it messes up the project in VSP. At what point is it safe to make changes to the files on the hard drive? I guess what, not until the video is complete and I would have no reason to make changes to it.

You don't actually bring files and photos to the library. VS creates links to those files and the original files never change folders. This is why, when you move a file, you get an error message as the all important link is broken. So, as you have worked out, don't move files until you have completely finished with the link to VS. I never move them in case I wish to re-visit a video and use the same links again.

If you have moved the files, the only thing you can do is to re-introduce the files to VS and create new links. i.e. start again. OR move them back to the original folders.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.
