How do I make a picture spin?
I am trying to figure out how to make a picture spin as a 4 sided object on the pro x7 version. I am going for a news type look like the spinning logo in the bottom left corner of the Fox News channel. I am trying to do it on an overlay track. I have tried a transition, but it makes the whole screen spin.

Sorry, but I don't have Fox channel here on the other side of the world. However, I suspect you are after a lateral spin -- where the front of the picture spins to the back and back again, many times -- rather than a flat spin -- where the top of the image spins to the right and the bottom becomes the top, again many times.
If it is indeed the former, then I don't think you can do this in video studio. Don't forget that companies like Fox have huge budgets and access to incredibly sophisticated (and expensive) software and hardware. I think you would need another program, a 3D one, to do that. Corel makes one called Motion Studio 3D. But there are a variety of others out there which you can use for titling. I have Xara 3D and Bluff Titler, as well as Motion Studio 3D. And all can do what you want. However, they are all commercial software i.e. you need to buy them. Maybe someone else knows of freeware which can do a similar job...

Hi
Try using Customise Motion.
Right click the clip in the overlay track, select Customise Motion, then set the rotation to 360
That will apply to one clip, duplicate the clip to create a longer effect.
Right click clip and copy, drop on timeline.

Well well well! Gotta love this Board -- you can learn something new every day!!
Just to refine Trevor's post a littler, change the Y rotation to 360 but leave the X and Z at 0, and this should be what you want... if indeed it was what you wanted!! And when you copy them, make sure they are end to end, rather than overlapping, and the rotation will appear seamless rather than having a crossfade transition at the end of each cycle.
Depending on how fast you want the rotation to be, you could also simply extend the duration of the photo in the timeline until you get the rate of spin you want -- noting that the longer the photo is, the slower the spin.

Re: How do I make a picture spin?
Just been trying this spinning out, if you shorten the clip right up and then copy, copy, copy, copy, copy, etc, you can get it to spin like a Catherine wheel for as long as you likel.
Absolutely brilliant, the more I'm playing with VSX7 the more I like it and know now that at last I know I can now work as fast with this as I did with Serif MoviePlus which I was reluctant to come off, but not now, I'm loving Corel VideoStudio
