Titles....again /hides in shame

Post by Rikk »

Oh yes you just knew it wouldn't be long before I had another dumb question....glad not to disappoint ;)

Drag down a nice title, edit till happy with text, drag to length needed....animation spreads across the whole length.

So, I can get the title as I want as far as say 3 seconds to get the animated title to appear but I want it to hold that text on screen for a period, then do the transition back out.

ie
few seconds of video
title drops/wooshes into view over 3 seconds with text now complete
text stays complete on screen for 4 seconds
title now transitions out with it's drops/wooshes

I've had a good dig around the options and can seem to change most things but the above.

Thanks in advance :)

Sometimes it's easy to see what animation has been applied - sometimes it can be easily changed - sometimes it's a pain

if you tell/show us which particular title - and unfortunately their all called "Lorum Ipsum" so just a name doesn't help then maybe somebody can tell you how to modify that particular one.

A workaround I have used in the past is to put the title in the track twice - run through the first one until the full text is onscreen and then "Take a snapshot" - now put the snapshot in the next overlay track down stating from the point where the full text is onscreen in the first instance of the title - and ending where the text is full screen on the second screen

so - text enter using first instance of title - stays due to snapshot - exits on second instance of title

maybe not that elegant - but it works - unless someone knows how to change the title your using

Cheers, managed to replicate that...lots of faffing but it works :)

Does seem strange that you can do really complicated things easily, but the simpler things you have to work around to do.

I'll work out how to make the background of that snapshot transparent later as I go from a nice over layed title to the same but with a black background. Really need to do some work first though ;)

If you make the background of the snapshot transparent it will not work - because you will see the titles behind it continuing their animation

I was just going to have them solid in place for a few seconds then crossfade out for now....can get more adventurous later ;)

Nope, it's no good. I've been trying to use snapshots and yes it works to a certain extent but it's REALLY messy.

There must be a way of creating a title that :-

transitions text in using your chosen filter
once the text is fully transitioned in you can then hold the text on screen for X period
transition the text out using your chosen filter

This is what i am trying to achieve - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-OgPvP ... detailpage

I've been scouring as many tutorials as I can find but can't find anything.

Pretty please :)

Hi Rikk

Like all computers there are several ways to complete an operation.

Try this……….

1 / create your first title, make sure the animation ends on screen.
2 / right click the clip on the timeline and “copy”
3 / drop the new clip adjacent to the first, drag to left so clips are together.-, will “snap to”
4 / change the Animation of the second clip to Fade – Fade Out

Is that the effect you are trying to create…..

Note--The bar below the preview screen can be used to set the Fade – pause durations

Ok I have tried to create a similar effect, please download the test text vsp, this should open using X7 or X8

Investigate the different edits/animations applied to each clip.

That's pretty close thanks, but wow, SEVEN separate titles to make it work is NUTS.
I was assuming you could do something using keystones inside the title sequence along the lines of A-B intro, B-C hold title, C-D outro

I'm loving the look of the motion tracking and the ability to link zoom to that for following action, but if what seems to be the simple thing as this should be are as hard as they are or need these funky work arounds it may be back to magix or look elsewhere :(

Well of course once you have the effect you want you could render that out to a single video clip with a plain background - so that when you want it in the actual project you just have one title clip which you can Chroma key into your project.

You did not say you required do do that.

There are a few clips in the sample as there are three words being set as multiple titles.

You can create a single title containing all words, but the animation will apply to all at the same time.

Using the method I used does not allow you to simply change the text as the animation will not be in sync for different length words.

Are you using the Ultimate version with Boris Graffiti installed as an add-on.
That may do what you want

The animations are embedded to either an image or video clip.

I have not used Graffiti that much so a don’t really know its full potential.
It has many animations, I’m sure one would do what you need.

YAY, thank you for the pointer towards Boris graffiti :)

Now I know what to do I can fluff it up, but simply. title comes in, title holds on screen, title goes away all lovely and controllable...a happy bunny I am :)
