Video Studio Ult X8 Download

Has anyone experienced an incomplete download (as an upgrade to X7) inasmuch as some of the content is missing. Fast Flick only has four templates. In VSX7 there are 15 themes to choose from. Also in VSX8 files in the Graphics Flash Animation are missing as opposed to VX7. In the latter there are around 40 and in VS8 only 4. I complained about this to Corel who first of all said that "yes when they tried to download Fast Flick only 4 Themes appeared as well and that they would look into it". That reply was off one representative, whist another wrote and pasted a link for me to follow to download a zip file from MediaFire. I tried this and it completely messed up my computer, it put a browser on called Opera and an opening tab in Explorer of "about-blank" which I believe is spyware and it did not download the proper files. I have told them this and am awaiting a reply. I feel I shouldn't have to be playing around with missing files anyway as a new UPGRADE download should work properly.

On the plus side VSX8 is much more stable and deals with all my movie files very efficiently, ie I can now render .mov and mpeg files plus .avi all in one project with no problem.

I am not very confident in dealing with downloading/moving files etc and renaming them as they have requested me to do so to fix the Fast Flick problem (that's if I ever get to open the link properly). Lord knows what other material is missing from VSX8, I suppose I will find that out in time. Maybe I should have waited for the box version.

Please let me know if anyone else has had similar problems and if so how were they dealt with.

Can you confirm that you downloaded and installed all THREE files (four if you chose the blu-ray burning option)

You should have

VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_1Main.exe
VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe
VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe

to be installed in that order

plus VideoStudioX8_Blu-ray.exe - if you purchased the blu-ray burning option

Yes I did download the three files, but not in that order. I did it as follows, because that's the order they were in in the download instructions.

I download all 5 files (including 32 bit), and I installed the 64 bit version. I Installed using Windows 7 on a D drive, because my C drive is SSD and it is undersized and full... I also have X4,X5,X6,X7 installed, and selected the X8 option to use libraries from previous version. I installed in the same order as Winifred, because that's the order they were in in the download instructions.

Will this cause any problems? So far I have not seen any. Thank you.

As long as the main goes first I don't think it will affect any thing - I would have just thought people would install in number order.

I too have all the previous versions of VS. Have you any templates missing from fast flick. There should be 15. I don't remember getting the option for VS to access my previous libraries. As mentioned in my post the people at Corel also encountered the same problem with Fast Flick when they tried to install it. The link they gave me from media fire I thought might be their solution to the problem. However, it didn't work anyway.

Yes I did get all 15 templates in Fast Flick. Installation of X8 Ultimate was no problem, actually installed the software twice - once on my desktop and once on my laptop (sometimes I travel and have to take a project with me). I have even made a photo montage using X8 for a funeral - No Issues.

Regarding the previous libraries please note, the dialogue box appeared after the installation and during the first time I ran X8 asking my if I wanted to use previous libraries in X8. I selected yes and the templates are now available under the: Instant Project menu selection and then within the Custom subfolder.

Many thanks for replying and I'm glad all went well for you. Obviously my download isn't correct and they don't appear to be able to solve it at Corel. They are asking me to alter stuff I do not understand and I now feel I've got a second rate product, which is wrong. Maybe I would be better doing a clean uninstall and trying again.

What did Corel Support tell you to alter? maybe we can direct you in the right direction.

You could try re-setting the program by re-naming the 18.0 folder.

How……….Close video Studio.

From the Start menu insert %appdata% in the search panel
That should find the Roaming folder
Navigate to here … C:\Users\User name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
Rename the folder “18.0” to “18.0 Copy”

Run Video Studio.

Yes that's part of the advice I received from Corel which didn't work. I've now just reinstalled everything and all my content seems to be there, even Fast Flick. Can't believe it, I'm very pleased (must get a life) Thanks to all who have replied to my post.
