Ripple Editing

Post by mwsing »

I recently inserted some clips near the beginning of a project with ripple editing turned on for the voiceover track. However, the tracks were not in sync when I finished the inserts and I had to go through the rest of the project moving the voiceover tracks into the correct position. Is there something I don't know about how ripple editing works that could have caused this - perhaps something to do with transition effects?

Did you also turn it on for the tracks you edited?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

I enabled Ripple Editing and turned it on for the title and voiceover tracks, neither of which ended up properly in sync. I was only editing the clips that I had inserted into the Clips track - some trimming and some moving around and inserting transition effects.

I must admit I find ripple editing a bit of a black art with knowing what locks to what and when.

There are a number of tutorials on Youtube demonstrating it's use, this is one of the newer ones - may help -
