Hi,
I know my version of the VideoStudio is an old version, but I dont have enough money to invest now and I need help.
My problem is that I am recording gameplays and I cant make the VS read the audio file (MPEG-2 TS), the extension is .TS.
I succeded on importing the file to VS, but it doesnt read as it should, it keeps mute.
The thing is that I made a small research and saw that the VSX4 I use accept the extension I mentioned!
Can someone please help me?
Im sorry for my english but it is not my birth language.

Re: Problems with audio on VSX4
We may be looking at different lists - but I do not see mpeg2.TS in the official Corel list - perhaps you should find a free converter online and convert those files to standard mpeg-2 before adding to VideoStudio
Official corel list = http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... dio-Pro-X4

Re: Problems with audio on VSX4
Thanks for the quick reply!
The file is an MPEG-2 file, but its extension is .TS
I converted the file to .AVI so the VS accepted and the sound was ok but...
At the first trim that I made on the project, the sound was off again.
What can be the problem now?

Re: Problems with audio on VSX4
Why did you convert to AVI and not mpeg-2? I realise the .TS file is already mpeg-2 but it is a type of mpeg-2 which VS cannot immediately play. So convert it to "standard" mpeg-2 which will give you the extension .mpg and VS should be able to recognise both the video and the audio.
The other problem with converting it to AVI is that AVI is really only a wrapper extension. That means that there are over 800 types of video which use the .avi extension, and their Properties are widely different. So telling us you converted to AVI tells us nothing at all...

Re: Problems with audio on VSX4
The capture Im making already splits the video and audio files. Im using Avermedia Live Game Portable device to record gameplays and already had the Corel VideoStudio X4 installed.
I tested some conversions and the AVI file gave me the best resolution. I used Format Factory to convert.
Do you think the "standard" mpeg-2 wont give less quality after the conversion, or it should have the same quality as AVI?
I will test the "standard" mpeg-2 as you mentioned, but Im afraid it has some other detail missing because VS recognized the audio track with the AVI format, the problem started with the first trim I made on the project. The sound disapeared only after I start editing.
Do this situation bring you guys back some other experience?
Again, I thank for the quick response and apologize for my english but Im from Brazil and I could find help only in this forum.

Não importa... o seu Inglês é muito bom! (Passei tres anos e meio no Brasil...) Unfortunately, though, we have to use English in this forum...
OK... can you right click on one of the converted AVI files in the Video Studio timeline and copy ALL of its Properties here, please. Or tell us which of the Format Factory AVI options you chose. Then we will have a better idea of what is going on.
I have also looked at the specifications for your AverMedia card, and it appears to be quite high-end. But can you tell us which quality setting you used when capturing from it? I see, for instance, that it can capture in a very wide variety of frame formats from 640 x 480 up to 1920 x 1080 high definition. If you are capturing using high definition, properties, then I would be choosing in Format Factory to output in high definition MP4, and in that choosing AVC High Quality and Size. The MPG option in Format Factory is only for standard definition mpeg-2 for DVDs, and that could be why you don't think its quality was very good. AVCHD should normally give excellent quality, and moreover is already Blu-Ray compliant and a sub-set of the mpeg Transport Stream (TS) format.
One thing I am not certain about, however, is whether VS X4 can deal with AAC audio which is used a lot these days, including in both your AverMedia and Format Factory. Certainly more recent versions of VS can handle it, but I no longer have X4 installed so cannot test it. But that could be the basis of your problem. The complication with the AVI audio might also be similar since I note that Format Factory uses MP3 as the audio option for its AVI conversions. However, while VS can handle most mp3 files, it has trouble with mp3 created with the LAMEmp3 codec, and I have no idea which codec Format Factory uses.
However, you say you have separate files for the video and audio from the AverMedia. One option might therefore be to use an audio editor -- such as the freeware Audacity or even Format Factory which also converts audio files -- and simply convert the mp3 file to standard .wav and insert that in the VS project.

Re: Problems with audio on VSX4
Thank you for your tips but I did some other conversions and the problem was solved.
I will have to do more file conversions than I thought I would have to do, but the results are what I was expecting.
I hope this post can be helpful for others.
