Updated - Resetting the Library removes Ultimate effects

Thanks for the update, hopefully Corel will fix the Reset to keep the installed Bonus clips.

Interesting your comment on adding the library to the current one, I’ll give that a quick test. I had always thought it replaced the library?

I would use the Library Manager to repair a corrupt library by replacing it, and if its adding then its not removing troublesome clips. Hmm that leaves the Reset or Appdata approach.

Yes, please double check that I've got that right Trevor. Start a new folder, add a few clips and export the Library, then add a few more. Now Import the first Library and you will see two instances of the clips you added first, or at least that's what happens here.

Ok after your comments I have run a few more tests

1 / Created two separate library layouts and exported each to their own folder
2 / I created a further three layouts export those to the same folder.

3 / Reset the library lost all my personal pages and Bonus clips
4/ Import Library 1 imports my personal pages, does not import Bonus files.
5 / Import Library 2 this indeed retains library 1 personal pages.
6 / Reset Media Library
7 / Import Library 3 created in 2 above, that imported the last saved library.
Library exports overwrites old versions when exported to same folder.

8 / No Bonus files, AppData trick to replace bonus clips, followed by import library.

I have to say Reset Library and AppData is the last resort in trying to repair a corrupt program other than a full re-install.
Even so Reset library should retain the installed program and that includes the bonus files. May not be easy to do, simply auto delete the 18.0 during a library reset would require a re-boot. I’m sure Corel can do if they want?

I assume by Pages you mean new folders you have created by using the +ADD button? By Bonus, do you meant the additional samples and such when you install the Bonus content from the Corel guide? I installed that with the download and it stays in place, but I haven't experimented with any other downloads. It's the loss of the Ultimate effects that triggered this off for me, and they do go missing with reset.

But I think we are seeing the same thing here.

Oh, and I still get the odd crash when resetting, but I haven't worked out a way of getting it every time!

Sorry for any confusion….

Yes I created new library folders / pages using the Add option, I did not bother inserting any clips, just having new folders identified the libraries.
By Bonus I mean the Ultimate ProDad / Boris Graffiti clips showing in the FX library.

The Ultimate installation file is called VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe

And yes I have had a crash but feel I was importing the wrong library, can get a little confusing when having many exported library folders.

Certainly we are seeing the same thing………….

The Corel Guide – Do More Bonus Content is a collection of samples, you manually import those to the timeline / library like any other clip. They are installed to the Documents folder structure, (C:\Users\Trevor\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro) the name "Bonus Content" is just confusing, nothing to do with the Ultimate version.

Do – More Instant Project templates, and there are a lot would be installed to
C:\Users\Trevor\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate
Now any populating that folder would be automatically updated to the library Instant Project pages, second icon down. I have problems there, another story called Improper Argument?
Don’t let these confuse the Reset / Export libraries issues.
