Audio problem w/ VideoStudio X8
I just downloaded a trial version of Video Studio X8 and the audio for my MTS (AVCHD) files does not work. These same files sound fine in Windows Media Player. No problem with the sound on my computer otherwise. I have explored all the settings on the sound mixer and the volume controls within X8 and everything looks normal. If this question has been answered in another forum/feed, I would be grateful to be re-directed.

Re: Audio problem w/ VideoStudio X8
Can you right click on one of your MTS clips in the VS timeline and copy ALL its Properties here, please, or take a screen grab of the Properties box and upload it here as an Attachment. Normally, however, many of us here use MTS/AVCHD with no problems...

Re: Audio problem w/ VideoStudio X8
By the looks of those Properties, you have simply used the information provided by Windows. What I asked for was for you to click on one of the clips inside Video Studio's timeline or its library window, and copy the Properties from there. It would give an actual name to the format of the sound files. Can you also add any information about where the files came from -- if a camcorder, then please give the brand name and model number.

Re: Audio problem w/ VideoStudio X8
Has Corel made any headway on this issue? I have the same problem, MTS clip properties listed in image below. Audio is fine for avi etc, but not MTS from my panasonic HD camera. Complete silence. I'd love to use this program for MTS editing but this stands in the way, advice anyone? thanks:

Re: Audio problem w/ VideoStudio X8
If you guys are all running the trial, rather that the full version, then there are a number of features disabled. My guess is that Dolby audio is one of them.

Re: Audio problem w/ VideoStudio X8
I'm afraid dtvp is right. A Corel exec informed us that they in effect have not provided any codecs in the trial version of X8 which require a licensing fee. The trial version can only use codecs which come as part of Windows. Since Dolby certainly requires a licensing fee even for trial versions, I too would have to say the trial version cannot handle Dolby audio, silly as that sounds. VideoHelp.com used to provide an AC-3 filter which allowed much earlier versions of Video Studio, back in the days when Ulead owned it, to play but not output in Dolby. In fact, I see it is still available: http://www.videohelp.com/software/AC3-Filter You could always give that a try... (Last time I think I made this recommendation was 10 versions ago with VS 8, when we had to pay $30 to get the Dolby module!!!)
But like asik, I can certainly verify that the full version of X8 will play and output in full Dolby audio...

Re: Audio problem w/ VideoStudio X8
I received the following info from Corel support ... and when I downloaded the codec it resolved my problem. Hopefully it resolves your as well.
Most of the issues clients undergo with no audio in their video clips, rightly spring from the fact that they do not have the proper codecs to decode the audio containers in their clips. With that, we typically tend to suggest or perform an installation of a package called K-Lite. This is a universal software package which contains the necessary decoders for a wide variety of file types, plus audio and video containers.
At this, I would suggest downloading the pack from the link below, installing, then restarting your system and trying the playback again.
