Focus images
Hi, again.
I filmed a conference and unfortunately the light wasn't very good.
With my domestis cameras a Sony HDR-XR350ve and Panasonic HC-V750KP pictures didn't come as sharp as wanted.
I know that Corel Video Studio has a sharp plugin but it doesn't do the job as expected.
Any one knows how to do a better job?
I red that: Create a central area of focus within your photo, using the Depth of Field tool to ... effect, like you see on the news when a journalist reports back to the studio...
How do I do that?
Many thanks
Alfons

Re: Focus images
Sorry Brian.
In another post I read something about dissable ASP and I did't understand.
I thought it had something to do with focussing.

Re: Focus images
Nothing in post can cure bad off-focus.
upload here a demo frame from your stuff to see how bad is it.

Re: Focus images
Next time I suggest you use manual focus.
I find that, even in dull conditions, the 750 will focus in auto mode. I have not had an "out of focus" problem yet with mine but if it was noticeable on the LCD, I would go to manual.
Just experimented in a darkened room with some dark oak carved cupboard doors. I had the camera in iA mode and the focus pulled directly from a close up to a long shot without any problem. The video amp gave detail in the LCD that I could not see clearly as the light was so low.
Were you in 1080/50p mode?

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Focus images
Thanks Terfyn.
I have this camera for a short time and I'm not yet quite familiar with it.
Keep reading manual and experimenting.
I filmed HG 1080 50i
I'll try other configurations.

Re: Focus images
Sorry I forgot to mention that most of a little out of focus were film under a reddish light.
I know that red colour always affects focusing.
Correct?

Re: Focus images
HG is pretty close to the bottom of the quality range and this may affect the sharpness of the picture. I suggest some filming at the top - 1080/50p and see if the picture is sharper.
