video studio 7

Post by mariobradley »

Hi all, I'm using Video studio 7 with windows 7, and I've never had a problem with anything up until now.
On bringing videos into the software, it plays the clip on the screen but as soon as you bring it into the project, you can hear the audio but the video doesn't move. Any help or suggestions please?

Well it would certainly help if you told us some more about the problematic video. Please right click on one of the clips in the library window and copy ALL its Properties here, or take a screen grab of the Properties box and upload it here as an attachment. Can you also tell us exactly where the video came from.

In Preferences > General, have you ticked the box beside "Show message when inserting first video clip into the timeline"? If so, do you get a message when you drag the clip into the timeline?

With the clip in the timeline, if you click Clip or Project immediately below the preview screen, does either of them let the video show?

And can we assume you are using version X7 (which is version 17) - and not version 7 which is around 10 years old ? - or are you really using a programme that old.

Hi, sorry for late reply, had to go away for few days, but do still need help please with this problem. I am in the middle of a project and up until now, every import has been working fine, but now, when I try to bring a video into the timeline or library, it plays as a clip, but it wont play as a project, it is just a still ,like a photo. When you switch over to clip, the video plays. I have ticked the box saying 'show message when inserting...' but no message appears when I drag the clip into the timeline.
I will upload attachment of properties as requested.

Would I be right in assuming that video came from a smartphone? I ask since the frame rate seems to indicate the camera is usual a variable frame rate, which some smartphones commonly do. If so, Video Studio seems to have problems with this type of video, and you might need to consider first using a video converter to convert to mpeg-4 with the same properties as the original, only using a fixed frame rate of 30 fps.

Some of us here use a freeware converter called Format Factory which does a good job. When installing it, however, you need to be careful and read each installation box as, like some other freeware, it will install other unwanted programs or toolbars unless you tick a box saying No!
