hi,
that problem exists since x5/x6,
Corel Paint Shop Pro is the only program that takes ages to start,
when I click to it takes 30-50sec till it is open.
and that is really annoying
All other programs that are installed are open in a few seconds...
what causes this "problems" with that corel software ?

PaintShop Pro is not the fastest horse in the race, it never was
On my PC it is sometimes is faster than other times, have never discovered why, but have got used to it.
Must be my age, I'm not as fast as I would like to be either

I wonder if it is because it is indexing your image files each time... In my case, I have just timed the opening to operable use of PSP X7 x64 and it took 11 seconds. This moreover seems to be the same whenever I open the program. Microsoft Word takes 5 seconds, and Corel Video Studio X8 takes 10 seconds. And that's on an i3 computer, not the one whose details are under my avatar...

Try deleting ImageDB.db in C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Corel PaintShop Pro\17.0\Database. When PSP restarts it will recreate the database. If you are interested you could check the size intially and then when it is recreated. If you are squeamish, rename the database instead of deleting.

Re: Paint Shop Pro x7 takes forever to start
I have a copy of PSP X3 on a Dell Studio laptop powered by an Intel Core2 Duo 2.4GHz CPU and it takes 25 seconds for X3 to launch.
The X6 32-bit on the other hand takes just 4 seconds on my Core i7-3770K 4.4GHz, 128GB Crucial SSD. Photoshop CS6 64-bit launches in 3 seconds.

Re: Paint Shop Pro x7 takes forever to start
Have you tried deleting the database for X3 as noted in the previous posting in this thread? Did it make a difference?

No difference. Indexing has been disabled since day 1 and my ImageDB file is just 49KB while RawSettingsDB and ScriptMgrDB both at 4 KB each. The X3 time boils down to a very slow laptop, made worse by the slow 5,400-rpm drive, among other factors.
