PSP X7 won't start up - exception error
Hi - a newbie here
I have had this problem for a week or so. I try to start PSP X7 and get this exception error - See attached.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program 3 or 4 times and keep getting the same result. I sure hope somebody can help me.
I paid for this program and would like to use it. I still have PSP X6 and it is useable but would like to use the updated one.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: PSP X7 won't start up - exception error
You could try resetting the program by holding down the Shift key when you click on the desktop PSP icon to open the program...

Seams like a corrupt file.
Could try re-running the program install exe and click repair if you haven't already.

Re: PSP X7 won't start up - exception error
Another thing to do is to clone your drive when you have it the way you want it.
eg when windows 8 loaded and updated clone the bare bones installation - this saves the time of havingh to do the whole installation process and updating with all those restarts. You can clone to a separate equal sized hard drive or clone an image to an external hard drive.
Then load all your programs that work and clone again.
Then work with the iffy programs like PSPX7 .
That way if your drive becomes badly corrupted , virus ridden, want to start a fresh, it is not such a big task.

Re: PSP X7 won't start up - exception error
Just crazy that you should have to refresh Windows 8 and reinstall all of your programs, or use a clone drive image to restore just because of ONE program like PSP X7 that seems to get easily corrupted or just has some buried bugs.
With Corel's horrid warranty period, once you are out the 30 days you have to pay for support. I would message and post on Corel's Paintshop Pro Facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/corelpaintshop ... lpaintshop
and on Corel's Support and Learning Facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/corelsupportlearning
Corel responds to issues posted on Facebook, and it's good way to get their attention. It's just a shame that the software can cause so much grief. I'm using X6, and from what I've read here, I'll skip X7.
Few other things to try. First, on recent Windows updates, .NET Framework 4.5.2 has caused trouble with other Corel software, and Dxo Optics Pro failing to load. If you have it on your system, remove it (it would be under your Programs Install/Remove area). Second, if there is a problem with any Windows files being corrupted, rather than refresh Windows from scratch and reinstall all of you programs, try running the Windows System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupt Windows files- https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833?wa=wsignin1.0
However, I don't think it's a Windows problem but a Corel problem.

Re: PSP X7 won't start up - exception error
Well here I am many months later and once again I'm getting this same error. I've done a little scouting on the internet and something caught my eye about Microsoft Visual C++ causing exception errors. Oddly enough this just started happening last night and looking to system restore there was an update yesterday for this very thing last evening at dinner time so I'm thinking that's whats caused my problem.
I had just done an image last weekend so think I will restore that today and then make sure that I don't install that update.
I could be all wet about this but hoping I"m not. Will let you know how it goes for anyone else having this issue. I can't be the only one...lol

I've been able to fix many problems running the Windows System File Checker tool. It may or may not help with your problem.

Re: PSP X7 won't start up - exception error
What is causing this ridiculous error. Can't be the same corrupt file on 2 different computers and nobody seems to know what this error is.
I can't believe I'm the only person with this problem. I'M SOOOOOOOOOOO Frustrated.

Have you tried the X7 Cleanup Tool for removing that before reinstalling?
