480p, 720p or 1080i?

Post by jordanlund »

I just updated from Video Studio 7 to 9 so I'm still getting up to speed... One of the reasons I updated was for Widescreen support, but I can't get Ulead to capture video in anything other than 480i.

I am using this video capture device:
http://www.adstech.com/products/API-555 ... id=API-555

Using the component connections any 480p (or above) input shows scrambled video and a weird double image.

I've e-mailed ADSTech as well in case it's a limitation of their hardware.

Below are the specs on your unit if your link is correct.
480p and above are the new mpeg2 HighDefinition Specs (HDTV)

It appears your capturing device only works with Standard Definition (SD).

Try connecting the unit S-Video (NTSC) IN to the ADS unit if your source
material can be downconverted from the HDTV tuner. My cable box
outputs HD & SD so when an HD program is tuned in I can also record
it at SD.

Oh, by the way VideoStudio doesn't do HD yet.

Hope this helps,
MD

One more point: VS9 does support wide screen (16:9) video capture, editing, and DVD burning but, as MD said, only in the standard definition frame sizes.
