Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
Now that everyone is moving away from hard copies (BD or DVD's) I wonder if VS can be able to create HD and UHD videos with menus to a Flash drive. So you just put the drive into your TV's USB and play back as if it is a BD or DVD.

Of course you TV has to be able to recognize those "Flash" drives with their menus, etc.Luna Esterhuizen wrote:Now that everyone is moving away from hard copies (BD or DVD's) I wonder if VS can be able to create HD and UHD videos with menus to a Flash drive. I can play video files created by VS back, on my TV, but not compilation from different projects (videos) with Menus like on DVD and BD. Perhaps you should guide me what output format I missed.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
It is not to do with outputs from Videostudio - but with inputs to your TV
you could use every option in the world - but if your TV does not recognise any of them it will not play them

What output do you choose to USB then I really do not see it in VS where you can use menus without using disks.

How many times does it have to said: TVs do not play USBs that contain a DVD like structure , ie menus etc. You can easily create the DVD structure on a USB but no TV (that I know of) can play it.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
My HDTV is an older model Samsung that can play music and photos on a USB drive, but not video, regardless off its format. So I have to plug the USB stick/external HDD into my Blu-Ray player (which in my case is a PlayStation 3). On the screen created on the HDTV by the PS3, I choose 'Video' and in it I find listed all the clips I have copied to the USB drive. No fancy music or backgrounds, just the list of clips. To me that is more than enough as a menu. I would have thought something similar would happen when the USB drive is plugged directly into a HDTV which *can* play video, but it would be nice to confirm what others in this situation see. If there is a list of clips on the USB drive, then what is that Luna wants as a menu -- the razzamatazz of a menu with music and background images?

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
I have a Samsung and a Sony 40" HD TV and each can play videos from a inserted USB stick. The Samsung can play almost all formats while the Sony is more limited.
I also have a WD Media PLayer connected to the Samsung and another to the Sony. This WD player again plays almost all video formats.
With an additional USB adapter the Samsung is also able to play videos streamed wirelessly from any computer
In none of these though can I play a menu structured video USB or video folder.
I understand Luna to want a USB that would play just like a DVD/BD that has a menu structure. THat is just not possible so far

My TV does not have a USB port - but connected to it via an HDMI lead I have an LG Blu-ray player which has a USB port into which I plug either a USB stick or an external HDD - and like Ken I get a menu which is generated by the Blu-ray player - see below - this is the only sort of menu I can get using the USB post
despite all sorts of tests and trials I still cannot get a menu with chapters and music to work from the USB port onto the TV

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
I don't mind menus with background music, my BD menus are always only a nice background with text, no thumbs or even worse, animated thumbs. What I'm talking about is that PCs these days don't come with optical drives which means we are moving away from all types of disks and I think it's the way to go. Most TVs are able to hook up a flash or hard drive. But I would like to give my client a flash drive with a structured project on it, like on DVDS/BDs for instance.
Yes my HDTV can play several formats from flash and hard drives directly plugged into the TVs USB or via my two USB port on my BD player. I also noticed that there are several software applications that can create a DVD structure on a flash but is can only be played back on a PC.
I don't think that I would like to copy 6 video files of a wedding to a flash drive for a client, I think that would be too "roughcast". By the way I never put a DVD into my PC and then browse for the VOB files to watch a movie on it, we normally use the menu.
But that's just my opinion and a "wish" for the Video Studio X9 " wish list".
Regard

You can easily put a DVD like structure on a USB flash drive using VS. But what would be the point if there are no TVs that can play it. Your wish is a "wishlist" for the TV manufacturers not VS since it can already do it

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
I never saw that output option, but what is the use of it is it for PCs? I make ISOs and mount that to a virtual drive why would I copy it to flash if I'm going to play it back to PC?

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
Why would you want to create your project on a flash drive if no TV can play it?

No I don't want to do so, but can you perhaps tell me where the output options in VS are I had a look once again but can't find it. Your quote above "You can easily put a DVD like structure on a USB flash drive using VS"

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
All of the output options in Videostudio are located under the "Share" tab which is at the very top of the Videostudio window.
