Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
25 years ago we used a process called "difference" in a multi 486 CPUs system to produce such mask.
It's an algorithm that compare an empty background shot with a similar one with the subject, producing the mask video.
I think these days this can indeed be implemented in VS.

greatly interfere checkmark, which indicates that the file from the library migrated to the timeline, Add setting to disable it. See photos, why it should be disabled, it confuses.
Please add automatic syncing video to audio. The function of the multi-chamber installation. I apologize for the mistakes, I do not know English.

This is plain crazy, we have been begging for these check marks over the years and, now we have got them, you want to get rid of them! In practice they are minimal and they are a very useful reminder of the shots used if the editing process goes over a number of days. Keep Them!
We have asked for multi camera syncing.
In practice it is fairly easy to do as the sound tracks will show the audio signal in graphic form and then it is easy to align the tracks.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

but you can make the process of disabling these checkboxes, for those who do not like it)? Can't get used to it, it would be better in the settings to turn on or off.

I also think it would be better if you can advance the timeline frame by frame.

Hi pat35249
Welcome to the forums.
Not sure I understand your comment, but yes you can advance the timeline frame by frame
In project playback press keyboard F for forward one frame and D back one frame.
In Project or Clip playback select the digital clock, either frames, seconds, minutes etc.
Use mouse to click the up and down arrows, or use the keyboard arrows.
More about shortcuts………
Press F1 to open help files, view Contents for Shortcuts
Hope this helps

if you change the list view, the program is really slow, I thought it was my program is buggy, downloaded free - trial version of corel video 8, uploaded to the video library, and repeated the same thing.asik1 wrote:Dimitry, you can change to list view. No check marks !!!

Hi Dmitry
Thanks for the info on this problem.
I must admit that has not been reported before, using my HD pana files is particular slow.
Can you start a new post on the main Video Studio forum,
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewforum.php?f=1
others may discuss this, although I think it needs reporting to Corel, I’ll follow this up tomorrow.

I hope that the developers are reading this forum and noticed among the proposals for version 9, flaws in version 8. I am afraid that I can not create a new forum, as to communicate with you through an interpreter googol))

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
After nearly a year of working with X7, and knowing that it has some WONDERFULLY powerful features, I gave up on using it as my primary video editor and went back to Sony Movie Studio.
These are the features that pulled me away, and the features I would need to see to come back to Corel VideoStudio as my primary editor.
Most Critical: True audio syncing! In VS X7, audio could only be moved on the timeline in frame-based increments, which is far too rough to get properly aligned audio coming from a separate audio recorder. All I need here is an option to allow audio media to be moved freely, without the frame-based quantization.
Next most critical: More audio processing, such as EQ, compression, and so forth. Ideally, having the option to use VST plugins would open the door for unlimited options, and would perhaps be the simplest answer here. Also, cutting audio to -36dB is NOT sufficient. To truly silence a track, it has to go down to -Inf dB.
Also highly important. Allow access to the hard drive directly, without having to add media to the library first. This is one of the key selling points of AfterShot, and why it's better than Lightroom. It's also one of the reasons I like working in Sony Movie Studio. Let's bring the same philosophy to VideoStudio. I really hate having to import media for a project, then delete it from the library when I'm done. Once you process one wedding video, you're not going to use the same footage for someone else's wedding video, are you? I understand if you want to have certain pieces of footage for title slides and other branding uses, but let's allow accessing of project-specific media without adding it to the library.
The last thing that drove me away was the frustrating tendency for the preview playback to stop the instant I tried to adjust something. Anything, it seemed, was enough to stop playback. This doesn't happen with Sony Movie Studio, and was another reason I went back to that as my primary editor. Closely related to this was the confusing way the Sound Mixer seemed to operate. I just couldn't figure it out. Certainly doesn't work like a real mixer from Mackie, Behringer, or SoundCraft. Again, the limitation of -36dB really doesn't make any sense.
More audio tracks will definitely help. One track for Camera 1's audio, one track for Camera 2's audio, (and yes, I know that the video tracks will hold this audio -- except audio filters are limited on video tracks), one audio track for the external recorder, one for music, and possibly one for voiceovers. Then add one or two for sound effects. If Corel had a truly professional level video suite, then there would be a reason to limit the number of tracks here, but in this case, there's no reason not to allow unlimited numbers of tracks. Let each user decide for themselves how many are reasonable.
As most movie-makers know, the sound is half of the experience. Without professional-level audio tools, anything that comes out is strictly amateur work.
As others have said, making it easier to sync multi-camera footage (based on audio waveforms) should be relatively easy for software to do, and would serve those of us who are doing such work.
One theme I see over and over again on these forums is customizing the workspace. Seems to me that setting up templates for different types of users is the way to go. One for simple edits, one for advanced edits, one for power-users, one for touch-screens, one for visually-challenged users, etc. etc. etc. The tools would be the same, the UI would be the only part to change. Set up a "workspace design center" within the preferences dialog, and let each user decide for themselves what color to make the window, the tracks, the menu, and what fonts to use for each item, not only the face, but size as well. Think of the workspace as an HTML page where various elements float and flow around each other. Just provide a reset button so if someone makes their workshop unuseable, they can get back to a working version quickly.

You are correct, VS is not perfect and will never be.
- But... I don't understand "Also highly important. Allow access to the hard drive directly, without having to add media to the library"
Importing media is one time process, import what you need to "Jane 2'nd wedding" library and delete that library when you done.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
like asik I don't follow your complaint about adding media to VideoStudio - you can if you wish drag and drop video files direct from Windows file explorer straight into the timeline - no need to use a library
Or if you want RIGHT click on the timeline and choose "Insert Video" which opens a file browser window direct into your hard drive - again no need to use the library at all
OH - and didn't you notice that X7 has four audio tracks ?

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
Whilst I would regard myself as very much still new to video work, I have to agree that sound synchronisation is a royal pain. Limiting it to just the frame isn't always ideal.
If the sound is a little out there is a definite 'echo', even if its in the same frame.
I would also love to be able to move some of the sound tracks around on the surround sound, but I can't do this with VS X8. Ok the likes of YouTube doesn't support surround sound, but not every recording is for YouTube.
Just in case someone is thinking the VS does support surround sound, you are correct, it does.
What I would like to do is to add my own tracks/sound effects to specific speaker/s. For example have a background of people chatting or bring in an aeroplane and have it fly over in the sound, not just the video.
Another thing to add to the list would be something to level the sound tracks more easily. I have access to more than one camera and have also been using my mobile (with an external mic) to record the sound. The sound levels can vary between them. This can be made worse when adding a windmuff. It would be nice to quickly level the volume between each rather than manually adjusting the volume.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
Would it be possible to have the option of using the Delete key for deletions? This is possible on AE, and seems far more sensible.
