Read my post above and follow the link. I can get a full download version.Luna Esterhuizen wrote:Thanks Brian, I'll rather wait for the full version as I format my pc at least once a year and there were too many SPs and the upgrade to X8.5 which you have to install before you can run an upgrade version. The original Ultimate edition also consists out of 3 setup files which is a painful process. In fact the current version had far too many glitches etc. I've just bought a new 4K video camera and hope that it can handle these large format. I know that the current version is also capable but I have not used it. The creating of proxy files is taking so much extra space on my HDD but you cannot work without it when dealing with 1080 HD. Regards
The setup now is almost painless. You can just download (files are saved on your desktop in a folder) or select download and install. Once done, off you go editing.
As for 4K.... unless you have a beast of a computer, proxies are the only way to go if you want a smooth editing experience. I edit with Panasonic 4K files and have to use proxies. But that's the nature of having all that resolution. Four times 1080, so think about what type of computer you will need to edit. After the project is done, delete the proxy files to save space if you want.

That link takes me to an empty shopping cart for PaintShop ProTonyP wrote:In my link, I have the option to upgrade or get full for $20 more. Look HERE.
As to 4K, what is the point of worrying about it unless you have a monitor or TV that can play it?

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
It takes "me" where I can purchase either the upgrade or full version. Guess it works only for "me". Here is the original LINK. I clicked on the Upgrade button and was taken to the purchasing screen. There, I could choose to upgrade or by full version.
As for 4K, even without a 4K anything, you can see a difference. Not only that, if you export to 1080, you will have more detail in your video than 1080 and can pan and crop without loss of detail.

I see it - not buying yet - anyone know if they stuck to the complete garbage auto music from X8? Anychance they brought back Smartsound?
That is the deciding factor as to whether or not the upgrade is worth it to me, unless there are some truly useful features.

I agree, Smartsound should be a plugin like in Pinnacle. When we lost it back with S14, there was an outrage in the forums sending off lots of emails posting this. Pinnacle (now Pinnacle/Corel) had Scorefitter. Only 3 albums released and it basically sounded like midi music. Most of us have a decent size SS library and were decidedly pissed on removing it. So, we paid for a plugin. All is happy.
I do have Sonicfire Pro to edit, which in some ways is easier than Quicktracks. Once you get used to (in Pinnacle) using Express Tracks and SFP, Quicktracks is something you avoid like the plague. With the way it is now... finish editing the movie and then bring it into SFP. Export sound track and add it to the movie in VS. Yes, a few more steps, but if you've ever used SFP, it is worth it. But for quick music, yeah... I do miss Smartsound. Not having Smartsound in X8 kept me from buying it. X9 along with Multicam motion tracking up to 4 objects sold me. It's what you want and will use, that's what matters.

If you don't have a 4K TV it doesn't mean that everyone don't have it. I have one and there are lots of my clients that owe one. As we move away from disks lately you just play 4K video via your 4K TV's USB. Did you know that!canuck wrote:That link takes me to an empty shopping cart for PaintShop ProTonyP wrote:In my link, I have the option to upgrade or get full for $20 more. Look HERE.

Thanks I thought it was only for the upgrade. I did purchase hope it will deliver. Your PC is fine if you use proxy files for editing 4K. To edit them native, it will require a beast of a computer. If you have difficulty with editing 1080 without proxies, 4K will be even worse. Most people do work with proxies when editing 4K. Yes, it takes time to render them, but then the editing experience will be a whole lot better and smoother. Nothing like waiting for something to catch up to where the cursor is on the timeline.Luna Esterhuizen wrote:Thanks I thought it was only for the upgrade. I did purchase hope it will deliver. The detail in a 4K video down res to 1080 is still better than 1080, even watching it on the computer or 1080 flat tv.
BTW, what camera are you using to record 4K?

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
I always do proxy its just the extra space that's killing me. I just bought the Sony FDR AX100. I have not done work with it just did some test shots. Can't wait to see what it offers. All my other Video Cameras are Sony. I do have a Canon 5D Mk II and a Canon 6D but I never used it for video just for stills.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X9
Nice list of cameras! You will have to use proxy though. I have a 3TB for storage.
