Monitors installed in vertical position might sound weird but there are several people using such orientation in medicine for instance
Image

Several people have space constraint issue and I am one of them.

They can afford a notebook in their desk but can't a second monitor because it is too large.

Supporting a second monitor in a vertical way is a feasible option to circunvent such horizontal space limitations and having a vertical monitor is like to have 3 monitors. Just take a look below and you will understand.

Regarding the subtitle editor Sure I can hide the track and I do that. But the usabitity of srt file edition I think it could be improved... dont know... just a suggestion... just a wishlist :-)

I really appreciate your reply.

We all understand the use of portrait for text and medicine , but how would you like video editing software to use it more efficiently? is there any NLE that do so?

hahaha! My neck is going well...

I understand your preocupation with my health but as I have said... that's just a suggestion.

By the way... here you are the print of your software in a vertical monitor.

Image

Tracks have good height, it is easier do edit audio levels, preview screen is big and I have a nice area for plugins and audio controls instead of horizontal disposition.

In the notebook screen (not shown here) it is possible to handle my other files, used to compose the video editing like an web browser, some pdf with product specifications and why not the video story board for instance.

Hope it helps. Thank you.

I agree that since VSX8 initially was released till the latest VS85 update and hotfix something went wrong. I thought it was just my PC. During play back or dragging the slider on top of the time line this happens:

When I use Customize Motion on an overlay image it distorts in different ways. The overlay image is vertically stretched (distorted) and the main video turns into a black screen with diagonal lines or the main video is distorted with diagonal lines. This is very disturbing and at this stage I did not test to see how it will render. Hope it renders correctly!
See images attached
Distorted 1.JPG
Distorted 2.JPG
Distorted 3.JPG
How it should be: Mind that the bottom image does not show the overlay as it becomes distorted during play back. Some times it shows correctly like the image on top.

Hi I just discovered that this issue has nothing to do with the overlays. It must be a problem with the "Customize Motion" because if you use it in the main video track the same problem occurs. I guess this should not be mention in the Wishlist for X9 and should be a different thread. Anyhow here is proof (Bottom picture totally distorted):

Imo, the number one requirement is automatic syncing, splitting & trimming of audio tracks to video tracks, followed closely by syncing multiple video tracks.

Filming with a dslr, and recording with a digital recorder is super cheap now, and very prevalent on YouTube. If Corel doesn't want to start loosing customers to the higher end competition they need to come up with some way of addressing this.

It may be worth you visiting Amazon to look up X9 (allegedly released 26th February) Should answer some of your concerns.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Wow, you would think the company website would say something about the new product.

Also, it looks like I'm out of luck for a while, because its only currently listed on amazon.co.uk, and specifically states it won't ship to the US.

Apparently it is listed in Canada. It is also listed on the US site but as "Currently Unavailable". I think most are pre-order for when it actually comes out.

Is it only the Upgrade version that's available, not the full version too?

Currently only the upgrade version is being offered as it is intended only for current customers - as with all Videostudio upgrades it is the full programme complete with all bonus features

The release of the non-upgrade version is due on the 16th Feb - but it will be identical to the upgrade except for the price -and the need to have a previous version.

Thanks Brian, I'll rather wait for the full version as I format my pc at least once a year and there were too many SPs and the upgrade to X8.5 which you have to install before you can run an upgrade version. The original Ultimate edition also consists out of 3 setup files which is a painful process. In fact the current version had far too many glitches etc. I've just bought a new 4K video camera and hope that it can handle these large format. I know that the current version is also capable but I have not used it. The creating of proxy files is taking so much extra space on my HDD but you cannot work without it when dealing with 1080 HD. Regards
