I wonder how much does it take to render a project in one of those "other NLE's" when all their 100 tracks populate with stuff. It's an hour a minute ? 10 hours a minute? 24 hours a minute. I'm sure that preview playback while editing is also smooth as silk....
If one needs 100 track it's because he doesn't know to edit properly.
or.... He better go to AE.

Seen the advert for Pinnacle Studio 19. It now gets Audio Ducking but also:-

New! Multi-camera editing for 6 cameras
• Premium effects from NewBlue with 800+ presets and 65+ plugins. •New! Video Essentials 4
•Motion Blends
•Light Blends
•Film Effects
•Stabilizer
•Video Essentials 2
•Video Essentials 6
•Video Essentials 7

• XAVC decoding and DVCPRO HD decoding
• Support for VFR video from iPhone 6 and other cameras
• 4K Ultra HD video support
• 2,000+ effects, transitions and templates
• Unlimited-track frame-accurate editing
• iZotope Music & Speech Cleaner

WOW Does that mean we can expect multi camera editing in VS X9 plus the rest of the new goodies ?????
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

I'm not impress by mambo jumbo NB stuff, I think Pixelan's are much more nicer.
How long will it takes to render 100 tracks with colorfast/touch-up ?

Whatever that means.

The point is that Corel have no excuse for not including some of the better stuff in VideoStudio. I would like to see multi camera syncing plus a better Audio Ducking option.

I still revert back to VSX4 to pull stills. Why they took the 'Take A Snapshot' pick out is beyond me. Would love to see this put back in X9.

Which version are you currently using ?? - ALL versions still have the "Take a snapshot" option - it has never been taken out

in X7 and X8 it is under "Edit >> Take a snapshot" - that's the small edit

I too would like to see multicam added to the list like others. But stability is far more important to me. I don't want to get into which program (PS or VSP) is better. Use the right tool for the job. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. But I do think that while there is some "cross pollination" going on, there will be differences between the two in what they offer.
I am for keeping Colorfast and the title programs in VSP along with Mercalli. Plugins? Red Giant rules in my book, but don't think MBLooks, Shine or Knoll will make it over.
What stopped me from going to X8 was the removal of Smartsound. Bring that back as a paid plugin for X9, but not as Quicktracks, but Express Tracks like in Pinnacle.
I second font kerning!
Also, the removal of tracks for specific use. Any track should be anything I want to place on it.

Good day everyone,
I'll be glad to get more lens flares in the next version. For exemple: Some like Videocopilote or Boris RED. Also, more transitions with light effects. Boris Graffiti is not complete in 64 bits. It works well only in 32 bits for the moment. Greetings from Canada

Don't remove major features we already have in previous versions. Or if you want to do this, do it in pro version and keep it in ultimate version (for add. price if required). Features like smartsound and blu-ray have been removed in version x8, keeping opening older project in vsx8 which is very annoying when you upgrade every year. blu-ray plugin could be bought as an add-on but there is no smartsound plugin for vs x8 :(

At one point this strategy will keep user from updating every year when what we earn is worst than what we got...

I can only agree. As for SmartSound, they have dropped it completely, it seems. I for one am lucky in that that I have the 'big brother' program from SmartSound called SonicFire Pro. It's stand alone but is more sophisticated than SmartTracks which has been dropped. So I can continue using my now large collection of SmartSound discs. Users of previous versions can keep using QuickTracks if they keep an older version installed (no problem as the versions of VS are stand-alone and don't conflict with each other).

FWIW, we have learned that Corel acquired title to the new automusic feature when it took over Pinnacle -- though there are a lot of Pinnacle users who also regret the loss of SmartSound in their own program...

I didn't upgrade to X8 because of the removal of Smartsound. Although Quicktracks is rather dated in it's functionality compared to ExpressTracks, it still allowed the use of the program in adding music to your videos. I use Smartsound in just about every video I do. It is an important part of my workflow.
When they removed Quicktracks from Pinnacle, there was a user "revolt" on a massive scale. We were then able to purchase the plugin from either Smartsound or Pinnacle. With that purchase, the plugin has worked in every version of Pinnacle since.... and this is going back 5 years, giving a much better to use, ExpressTracks. And yes, I also have SonicFire Pro 5 installed for more complex audio work.
One thing Pinnacle did, with v18.5 was give the Smartsound plugin as part of an update to the program.
Unfortunately, plugins are "fickle". They are here today, and gone tomorrow. And sometimes, backwards compatibility hinders further advancement of a program.
Corel should consider the options for users to continue to use their favorite plugins, even at a cost. But marketing and accounting have a say in the product, and know what price points in retail ring people's bell.....
You can sell a lot more of something for $99.99 than for $109.99..... even though you might want the "extra" feature.

I know that is an old thread... but here you are my suggestions:

Wishlist:

VideoStudioX8:
-> Fix following bug: VideoStudio crashes when inserting a picture or video over an other picture or video already existing in the timeline
-> Audio, video, text and overlay tracks could be individually resized and of course should have a 'resize to default' button.
-> Support for monitors installed in vertical position (just need some testing with monitors installed in vertical position - easy to solve)
-> Subtitles incorporated in the video is a very bad feature because does not allow internationalization. Srt files should be used by default.
-> Subtitle editor should save srt file as the subtitle is typed
-> Subtitle editor should automatically reload the srt file when creating subtitles
-> Auto music could be integrated to Youtube audio library https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music

*****************
Painting creator:
-> Width / height of tips could be saved in the individual brush settings. Nowadays everytime I change the brush type, tip width and height settings went to default values and I have to set them again.
-> Each brush should have their own color settings and an 'apply color to all brushes' button.
-> Moving from animation to still mode and vice versa should not erase previous drawings
-> Should have a tool for creation straight lines creation.

You are not clear, I have no trouble ,using same 4 HD mts files
X8-1.jpg

Correct, this is very usefull

Ineresting, for what use?

-> Subtitles incorporated in the video is a very bad feature because does not allow internationalization. Srt files should be used by default.
If it's bad? don't use it. you don't have to render the video with the titles , you can hide the track.
-> Subtitle editor should save srt file as the subtitle is typed
Don't hold your breath, Subtitle editor is a basic tool and not to replace professional translating tools.
-> Subtitle editor should automatically reload the srt file when creating subtitles

Unfortunately Painting tool is underrated tool in VS, not many know how to fully make use of it (including myself). It's an old tool , don't expect much
