Editing early without making alterations downstream

Post by MRMATT »

Hi, hope you can advise

I have been putting together a video which consists of numerous titles, effects, sounds, pictures, videos - which are choreographed/synched to various music files/effects within the clip.
It is about 5 minutes long
If I make a change early in the video ( say within the first 30 seconds) be it adding another music, picture, video or effect, the.... of the music files or effects etc to the other components becomes out of sync, and I have to time - consumingly readjust everything back again to be in sync - which is very difficult.
Is there a way to move all the pieces of my video down say 30 seconds, all together in unison so they remain in synch with each other, so I can add a 30 second intro music clip?

I hope I am making this clear....

Thank you in advance,

Matt

There's a small arrow just to the left of the Video track (Enable Video Editing). This will lock any selected tracks in place if you add or change the length of any files in the video track.

Then each track will have a little padlock which you can choose to either lock or not.

Bikemike missed one word... Ripple.
Matt if you enable ripple edit on the first track and any needed overlay tracks you can add video to the first track while keeping in sync the overlays downstream.
