Hi.
I'm new to VS X7. when I play back some clips I've put together in a project they stutter in the playback window, like they're in slow motion (the playback speed for the clips is "normal."). I think I've downloaded the most up-to-date Codec but I'm not as technically savvy as some people on the boards. (I saw there were other posts on this topic but they were too technical for me to understand.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Martin

Re: VS X7 Ultimate Some clips stutter in playback window
This is not unusual. It is probably due to the computer needing more power or speed. BUT the rendered video will run at normal speed without problem.
I get this occurring occasionally but just ignore it.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: VS X7 Ultimate Some clips stutter in playback window
Hi Martin
Welcome to the forums….
There is a process called Smart Proxy
This creates proxy files of each clip used, it may be required when using HD video types, you do not give any details of your video
It should / may improve timeline playback.
Make sure Smart Proxy is enabled Settings – Smart Proxy Manager – Enable
Any HD file added to the timeline will auto create the proxy file
Existing clips, right click and create Proxy Files, Shift Click can select multiple files.
Proxy files can take some time to create, then a small icon can be seen on the timeline/library clip
View Smart Proxy Manager, Queue and File manager

Re: VS X7 Ultimate Some clips stutter in playback window
Thank you for the responses. If it matters, I took the video with a Panasonic V550 and I used 1040 MP4 format.
I'll check the SmartProxy and also how it plays back as a rendered video.
One other unrelated question if you have any experience with it: Is it worth paying Corel to get access to their technical assistance?
Thanks again!
