Hi,
recently bought and installed vs x7 ultimate on Windows7. I'm wandering if it's still needed to download and istall Directx sdk, and, if yes, which version.

VideoStudio installs Directx as part of it's installation - no need for any additions.

I thought DirectX was part of Windows, installed with the OS and not by third party software like VS...

Re: Directx and V.S.X 8
When downloading Video Studio X8 Ultimate During d/l Part 1 The program stopped, I got a message from VS my version of DirectX was a newer version, after a short pause, the program continued downloading. As I downloaded Video Studio X8 Ultimate several times, due to problems with the program, the second time I downloaded V.S.X8 I got that same message. The third time I downloaded V.S.X8, prior to the download, I uninstalled DirectX. After installing X8 I used my backup to reinstall DirectX. I should note, I still have issues with the new VSX8 Ultimate. I wondered if others had the same issue with their DirectX.
