Template Customize button missing in X7 - was in X5 for WMV
I purchased Video Studio Ultimate X7, having used X5 before. One thing I've noticed is that when I try to create a custom configured WMV profile, the "Customize" button is missing from the movie template
In version X5, in order to create a new profile, you go to the Settings menu and choose "Make Movie Templates Manager"
In version X7, the option is now called "Movie Profile Manager"
In version X5, when you go to the "Profile" tab, there was a "Customize" button available for the WMV format where you could drill down, copy an existing template/profile then edit the individual settings, for things like bit rate and frames per second.
In version X7, there is no "Customize" button shown in that tab.
Has it been moved to another location? Has the feature been removed from the program completely?
I would like to be able to set my options for the WMV format to 60fps instead of the default 29.97, like I can in X5 for example, but I cannot find where that feature is located or if that feature is even available any more.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I didn't find a 60p WMV profile in X7 so I made one for you.
This profile will accept any resolution in 60P, and uses high VBR.
open the zip and place the prx in the
\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7\Ulead.dat\WMV_Profiles\ folder
Open VS and you will find it listed.
You can tweak it in notepad but make sure you backup.

It's the next step from that dialog. I've updated my original post to show screen shots. Thanks.BrianCee wrote:Is this what you are looking for ??
You can make those in Notepad? Independent of the X7 interface? If so, I had no idea. Thanks for taking the time. I really appreciate it.asik1 wrote:I didn't find a 60p WMV profile in X7 so I made one for you. You can tweak it in notepad but make sure you backup.

Could you please describe / explain the process of how you made that template? It seems to work well for the 60fps part. But I would like to be able to adjust other parameters such as constant vs variable bit rate, audio (192kbps vs 128kbps, etc.)asik1 wrote:I didn't find a 60p WMV profile in X7 so I made one for you.

Wouldn't you also need Windows Media 9 to create new profiles with the Media Profile Editorasik1 wrote:I didn't find a 60p WMV profile in X7 so I made one for you.

I am aware that Media Encoder is part of Win7, but not sure if DudeBoyz is. Back in the days of PowerDirector 6/7, I used to make all my own profiles, as profiles included with NLEs in those days was very limited

Unfortunately Corel decided to remove this option, I don't understand why.DudeBoyz wrote: Has it been moved to another location? Has the feature been removed from the program completely?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
your best option may be to use either X5 to access the wmv encoder, new templates should then show using X7
Otherwise try windows media encoder?
Re: Template Customize button missing in X7 - was in X5 for
This is so frustrating. When you upgrade to the newest version, you expect new features, you don't expect them to remove a critically important feature such as the ability to create custom templates. For me to have to go back to using X5 just to get that core functionality is so disappointing. But I guess I just have to put X7 on the shelf and go back to using X5 for now.lata wrote:Unfortunately Corel decided to remove this option, I don't understand why.DudeBoyz wrote: Has it been moved to another location? Re: Template Customize button missing in X7 - was in X5 for
Hi DudeBoyz
One thought, video studio gives you the option to use the first clip properties to render the project.
With a WMV clip on the timeline, Share Create a Video that … choose the Same as First Video Clip rather than Same as Project Settings
Does that render using the correct WMV properties.
I do not have a WMV sample using 60 fps so cannot test this option.
By the way I assume your original video is using 60fps and that you are not converting 30fps to 60fps.
If the above does work then using make Movie Profile Manager Add function should also work, allowing you to create a template of your WMV 60fps.??????

Re: Template Customize button missing in X7 - was in X5 for
Hi DudeBoyz
Further tests........
Ok I have managed to create a profile using X5 then import to X7, I am in the uk so would use 50fps.
The X5 profile is saved to :-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Components\Encoder\Profiles
I copied the .prx file to VSX7 folder
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7\Ulead.dat\WMV_Profiles
I was then able to view and use that profile using CVSX7 Share – WMV
Using the “ + “ option I was able to add the profile to the WMV list.
Also the option Same as First Video also uses the WMV 50fps / 60fps
Using Windows Media Encoder would also create the template, then move to the appropriate X7 folder.
Hope this helps
