Source for X6 plugins?

Post by dave0judy »

X6 did not come with a very good source of plugins (frames, tubes etc). On prior versions I had found a large number of these which I was able to install, but doing a Google search now, they seem to be rare. Does anyone know where I can find plugin downloads for X6?

There is a lot of repetition in plugins and brushes picture tubes etc from version to version.
Theoretically you could use File > Preferences > File Locations to direct all versions to the one set of extra tubes brushes etc. in a separate folder.
So many of those tubes etc from earlier versions of Corel PSP will work in later versions. Some scripts may have problems.

The many plugins I had downloaded and saved were installed into the appropriate PSP folder or a new folder under that application. Consequently when uninstalled to update to X6, they were all deleted along with the old PSP program. Do you know where I might find the plugins for older PSP applications?

How did you install the older versions. Don't you still hav the CDs for those versions?
You do not have to uninstall a previous version to be able to update. Many peopl have multiple versions of PSP that they can run for the advantages of a particular version. No one version is the Bees knees for everyone, they all have their lovable features and faults. With memory available in Gb for internal drives and cheap and large data storage available on external disk drives, it maks no sense to uninstall and remove those earlier versions, just because you are updating.
If you uninstall because you want a tidier desktop with less program icons then it is easy to make a shortcuts folder on your desktop and place all the less used icons in there.

Plugins usually refer to the items that appear in Plugins folder in PSP , and this includes KPT, Nik Color Effects, Athentech Perfectly Clear. Tubes, brushes etc are not usuallr referred to as plugins.
There are plenty of free tubes, Picture tubes scripts. Patterns, brushes and others on the web if you search on google. Plenty of sites where you can also purchase many others.
Now looking at Tubes alone:
PSP7 had 21
PSP8 had 85
PSPX2, x3, x5, x6,x7 after installation of Creative Content had 155 Tubes of which 153 were repeats
PSPX4 was the exception with 357 Picture Tubes in the installation.
If you are still registered with Corel and did get X4 then you may be able to download some of that content and reinstall X4 and its content.
I did find that many of those tubes were also included in some of the free sets floating around on some of the sites and when i collected those tubes found many repeats with what I already had so spent some time removing the duplicates .

hartpaul,

Having upgraded to a new PC, and having dumped all of my dvd's on all prior versions, the only one I had left was the X6 install (I thought). However looking through my DVD's, I found that I had burned the X4 downloaded version to a DVD. After Installing it, and then copying all of the Corel## folders to a separate folder on another partition, :D :D :D adding this folder name to my tubes and frames on X6, it immediately added them. I can now uninstall X4 as I don't really need it, being very similar to X6. I can now just add this folder to new versions and get them all back. I now have to weed out the duplicates.

Thanks for your info.
