how do stay in project mode?

Post by delboy007 »

when editing my project I often select a clip and want to play from there. The problem is every time I select a clip it automatically goes into clip mode and only plays that clip. So I have continually change it back to project mode to play the whole project. Surely there is a way to keep the editing in project mode?

There is no way to automatically switch back to project mode - how would VideoStudio know when you wanted to do it - unless you clicked on a button to tell it - it could be you want to edit the next clip and if it had switched back to project you would not like that.

Why? Corel defaults to the more used option, if you download a clip, presumably you want to process that clip. It is just one click to return to Project mode.
Scrubbing back on the Timeline will transfer to project mode and clicking on a clip will transfer to Clip mode. Very logical.

VideoStudio is a very intuitive piece of software but you still need to learn how it works.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

I am using Version 17.1.0.37 and that definately doesn't default to the most used option.

If I wanted to edit a clip I would expect to double click on it so the properties of that clip are shown and I can adjust them

I am talking about the clips (photos) that are in the project. I put it in project mode, run the video for a bit and then decide to remove a clip. As soon as I select that clip it goes back to clip mode so after deleting it in order to continue playing the video I have to put it back in project mode. Then I might want to start the video halfway through so I select the clip to start from and once again I have to put it back in project mode.

I would have thought logically it should stay in the mode I select until I decide to change it.

If you want to edit or delete a clip it will, obviously, return to Clip mode. As soon as you "Scrub" to the next clip it defaults to Project mode, again as expected.

I would have thought logically it should stay in the mode I select until I decide to change it.

If you are dealing with a clip then, logically, it defaults to Clip mode.

but 90% of the time I select a clip because I want to play the project from that clip, not because I want to edit that clip.

In that case try not selecting the clip - but drag the timeline cursor to the spot you want to start from - or use the editing scrubber under the preview window

thanks but I find it much easier just to look at the photos in storyboard view and select the clip I want to start from. So it seems I am stuck with it. It still seems logical to me though that if I want to edit a clip I just double click it.

What is logical for you may be illogical for someone else. You can't please everyone all of the time :D
