I find that when I preview my clip with the "Clip" preview option, the video clip looks as originally capture from the camera. But when I preview with the "Project" option, it seems like VS has added some tinted effect to the clip? The clip seems less contrast. Attached herewith the screenshots I take.
clip.png (more contrast)
project.png (less contrast)
By the way, the video clip was recorded with Sony a77 II, 1920 x 1080, 50i, AVCHD
I've tried configured the "Project Properties Option" by using "AVCHD Project format" but with no luck. Was wondering is there any options that I may have overlooked?
VideoStudio has a number of options for correcting colour - you will find things to modify color and contrast in the 'FX' library which you can apply and adjust - or use the color correction option by highlighting the clip - opening the options panel and selecting "Color Correction"
cjshiu, the difference you see is part of your graphic card settings & spec.
Only if you see a difference in the final rendered movie it could be related to VS.
@BrianCee,
Yes, I know about the Colour Correction and those Special Effects thing. My question was referring to my original clip seems like being altered without me applying anything to the file. But thank you anyway.
@asik1,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the rendered file (MP4 output) also exhibited the same thing, which has some sort of white tinted light casted on. Anyway, does yours have the same effect as what I screen captured above? Thanks.
You've told us what the original video is, but you haven't told us what format you are trying to produce and what the Project Properties are. If you are trying to produce a new video with exactly the same Properties as the original, then have you ticked the box in Preferences > General beside "Show message when inserting first video clip in timeline"? When you do that in a new project and insert the first clip, you should get a message asking if you want the Project Properties to be the same as the clip's. If you accept that, then the Project Properties will reflect the original properties, and in Share you will then be able to select "Same As Project Properties" for the output...
@bobp, thanks. But the "Project" preview still not correct, inconvenient during editing.
Hi @Ken Berry, Thanks for the reply and sorry for not describing the details in full.
My Project Properties was set to:
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMBV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 18000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
whereas my original file properties was:
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 50 fps
Frame-based
(HDMBV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 25999 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
With your guidelines, I'm now able to output the file as close as to original file quality if not the same. Thank you very much. But now lead to my other questions:
1.) When preview in "Project", is it possible to set the preview rendering as close as possible to original file output? Very inconvenient during editing process.
2.) By accepting the "First clip properties" as the "Project properties", at the "Share" I'll only have the "Same As Project Properties" option to produce maximum highest quality video output file?
My original intention was to output the file to user friendly MP4 and I understand the quality lost through this compression method. But I didn't expect the lost of detail are so great. By inspecting the properties provided above, the different I see are
Frame rate: 25fps vs 50fps
Upper Field First vs Frame-based
Video data rate: Variable max 18000 kbps vs 25999 kbps
I tried to change output video data rate to its max possible at 20000 kbps but the result doesn't come any close to the original.
Thanks for reading.
