Bug: Image changes when rotating or cropping

I sometimes encounter problems with rotating and cropping.
When I have an image adjusted like this: http://i.imgur.com/1zob6Ly.jpg
and I want to crop it or rotate it, it sometimes changes into this: http://i.imgur.com/EZBNEvB.jpg

in this case I only wanted to move the image within the 3:4 crop a little bit to the left. Impossible to do, unless starting all over.

Differences in lighting (darker or lighter) also happen when I rotate an image a little. Then I have to rotate a little further or back to get the lighting back to what I want.

I'm using the latest ASP 2 version with Linux Mint 17.1,, but this also happened in the precious version of ASP 2 and an older version of Linux Mint or Ubuntu.

Never ever use Autolevel.
Use Auto Contrast instead.

Never used automatic contrast before, works ok. But when never ever use Autolevel, then why is that option still available and so prominent?
ASP, if that option is never to be used, REMOVE please!
