photography magazines (slightly off topic)

Post by baldrick777 »

Could anyone please suggest the names of photography magazines which they've found helpful - but without the top-heavy bias toward photoshop? Seems most have some form of kick back from Adobe, with no involvement at all from other vendors such as ASP2, which I find somewhat sickening.

Any help would be much appreciated!
Using Linux Mint 17.1 > gThumb Viewer > ASP2 (ProPhoto RGB) > Gimp 2.9 (dev). Specialising in landscapes, concerts and portraiture.

I haven't subscribed to a paper magazine in several years, too much fat and not enough meat. Finding a mag with any reference to ASP will probably not happen and if it does it will be a quick overview with a lot of fluff telling why other raw editors are better. There are several YouTube videos on using ASP that will cover all the basics and some in depth uses. I hope some day ASP will become a leader in raw work, but at the present it seems every patch fixes one thing and breaks another. I like the ASP interface and ease of use above most other programs but it is going to take some serious efforts on the part of Corel to get the program ready for primetime.

The sad thing is that there is a belief out there in the world that unless you have an Adobe product you aren't serious.

Magazine writers believe that unless they use Adobe products then they are missing the bulk of the audience/readers. In reality it's more often than not just a bunch of sheep following along without the gumption to be 'different'. The thing is being 'different' is fun. After all how serious can you take an article that just parrots what has already been said?
