Using *.MOV files

Post by chrismead »

My camera takes *.mov files - DVD Pictureshow seems to not like them - have I done something wrong, or is there a [freeware?] tool that will convert them? Thanks in anticipation. Chris

Like AVI, MOV files can have different types of compression as well. Hence, it doesn't necessarily mean that if you can play it on Quicktime, you'll be able to reencode the video file. Usually, you'll be able to reencode it to standard quicktime if you buy Qucktime Pro. I'm not sure if there are any freewares available that can do this.

No - I have a Minolta A2 digital camera, the standard movie setting produces a *.mov file. As the moderator suggests, these play in the default quicktime. I wonder how many other DCs support this format? Chris

Just to let you know, I have a Kodak DX6490 and it makes .mov files. I can use these files in most software, and I have been able to in roxio, and Adobe Premiere Pro. I think apple quicktime pro will convert them to avi, but it isn't freeware, I think it is 29.00. I haven't purchased Ulead's slideshow or Video Studio 9. I have been considering the later, but I want to make sure it will accept both video and stills in the same slideshow, or project whatever you want to call it. I do have Ulead's Video Wizard though and it will accept quicktime (MOV)
