Re: Corel X7 Capturing HD Video
No because I have no problem capturing via firewire - I rarely do it now anyrate although I did need to capture an older tape a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine - my camcorder now uses SD cards - piece of cake - pop the card in the reader, drag and drop files across.
but there is no problem at all with capturing with any other programmes - especially if you already have them
fellow Admin Ken Berry prefers to use a small free programme called HDVsplit - you could try that if you don't want to stick with a complete expensive programme

Re: Corel X7 Capturing HD Video
For my HDV footage I use, as Brian said, a small freeware program called HDVSplit. For standard def DV/AVI we recommend another small freeware program called WinDV. One of the main reasons we use these programs is because they allow us to use our own names for the captured clips rather than using Corel's rather mysterious naming system. HDVSplit also, as its name suggests, splits the incoming video by scene, whereas VS will only split it once captured.
While I too have no trouble capturing via Firewire, some people have had problems with the current Windows Firewire driver, and have had to change this driver for what is called a legacy Firewire driver. See http://myvideoproblems.com/ProblemPages ... tureW7.htm on how to do this.

Re: Corel X7 Capturing HD Video
I'm trying to split my scenes after capturing using VS X7 Ultimate. VS captured in one long video file but the file contains many scenes taken at different times. I'm not having any luck. Were you able to split scenes by time stamp. I have an hour of video with many scenes in there but VS does not recognize them by time stamp. Any suggestions? Re: Corel X7 Capturing HD Video
I too use HDVSplit for capturing HD footage. I'm about to upgrade to Windows 10 and was wondering if anyone out there is using HDVSpilt with Windows 10. Since there has not been much progression with HDVSplit, in term of current releases, I want to make sure that I can keep using it with the new operating system. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Re: Corel X7 Capturing HD Video
I still use HDVSplit under Windows 10, with no problems. I didn't have any either under Windows 8.1.
