Re: PSPX7...saving files
Yeah, no worries Elizabeth.
Just be mindful of how your font choices are perceived by others.
Toque in cheek comments are most of the time taken out of context because all we see it the written word. Then arguments start in most cases.
Anyway, This all aside. I'd like to see your tutorials. You haven't left a link to your blog. I've never used Tubes before, have no use for them, but I was having a play last night and are wondering if you could either build me, your I can use a tut to learn how to make one to create a stitch line.? Better would be a "style line" I can get something that works to a point by using the tools available but a true stitch line would be great.

Thanks for your reply.... point taken........my web pages as follows:
http://web.comhem.se/elizabethcreations/
Not sure I have a tutorial on there though with creating a stitch line.....but I have tubes to the same effect.
I have uploaded a few tubes to Mediafire if you wish to check them out...Cut/Copy/Paste whatever you need.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/e4f87 ... itches.zip
For your stitch line...is the DOT Dash Styled line not what you're after?

The dash line can work on seats and such but it's not that great for steering wheel leather cover stitching.

Re: PSPX7...saving files
Hi Elizabeth.
As I requested in my previous post and also with the example I gave, - what types of image are you having problems with?
We have ascertained that you can save as pspimage and do it as PSP7 compatible.
As I explained I had no trouble with a simple shape on a transparent background.
But we know that psp files can save a number of types of images. the image can be a flattened image (which I did successfully) on a transparent background.
I tried
flattened image no transparency,
flattened image with a selection,
flattened image with selection saved in an Alpha channel,
image with 4 layers
image with two layers one of them a vector layer ,
and all worked and were able to be dragged and dropped into the PSP7 workspace (PSP7.00)
Now is there something extra you are trying to save that is not compatible and that I have not tried?
Or does a tube image on a transparent layer sometimes load and sometimes not load?
Please don't uninstall PSP X7 as your first option. Try a reset to default first - Hold the Shift key down and click to start X7 normally and answer Yes to defaults - (save any custom workspace first). Reading some of the other posts in this forum , some people have had trouble doing a reinstall as the uninstall seems to leave some bits behind that interfere with a later reinstall.

Re: PSPX7...saving files
Hello again hartpaul...
My work is with PSP tubes, mostly with a transparent background, some with layers that must still be saved in layers...and I am trying to re save them as I have always done in the past....as PSP file format, able to be opened with earlier versions of PSP, thus the reason they are to be saved as PSP7 compatible. It doesn't matter whether there are layers or not....they are not reliably saved as PSP7 compatible.
I took it for granted that because I have pre selected this option in the SAVE AS /Options etc etc....that this would be the result, only to find that when opened with my PSPX2...they cannot be opened. I don't remember the exact words that pop up..."File is not supported" or something similar.
So in short.....I cannot save a PSP tube as PSP7 compatible with PSPX7 and have it open with very early versions or PSP...it will open with PSPX5 though.
No comfort for those who have the very early versions of PSP and try to create from my tutorials...if they cannot open the tubes that should have been saved correctly.
As I said earlier...my tutorial testers have PSPX7...and all works as it should for them....just not my software. All is not lost though as I can transport my PSP files to PSPX5 and save them from there ....at least that version works....but it makes my task messy when this is what I do day after day. Swapping from one version to the other can get quite confusing for this 'old" brain.

Re: PSPX7...saving files
Hi Elizabeth
Can you just confirm the steps you take, both in X6 and X7?
When you go to Save As / Options, what "compatible file" are you selecting and which version are you then using to open the pspimage file?
Are we talking about images or just about tubes? I don't use and save tubes.
Does that make sense?

Re: PSPX7...saving files
The thing I noted was that list only extends to X4. So X2 is excluded. Could be the reason.
When you use X5 to open the file again save using your method should then include X1 and X2 in that list.

Re: PSPX7...saving files
Hi Tadjio...I am selecting "save as PSP 7 compatible" file to save PSP tubes as PSP images...and I have been trying to open them with PSP X2 to test them. This is the earliest version I have installed at present. These are the steps I take for saving tubes with PSP X7.
As I have been trying to sort through this for several days now....I decided I would have one more try at it this evening...I am taken aback as it (PSP X7) appears to have corrected itself now with saving as PSP7 compatible when testing with PSP X2 a moment ago.
The only thing I did different was to change the setting to PSP 9 compatible...tried a few...no good, then back to PSP 7 compatible...now it seems to be okay with saving 1, 2 or 3 layers of a tube in tact as a PSP (tube) image and PSP 7 compatible.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring. Fingers crossed this doesn't go pear shaped once more as it's been rather frustrating up until now!!!
