Hello
I looked around the interface but didn't find how if X5 makes it possible to play a video faster while editing, so I don't have to play a video at its real speed and wait just to insert pictures in the timeframe.
Thank you.

First you can drag the cursor along the timeline or, second, move the timeline along using bar at the bottom of the edit screen and then click above the timeline to move the cursor to that spot. By using the Zoom Out (- in a circle) you can compress the timeline and then dragging the cursor will speed over the video on the timeline.
You can do the same to the scrubber cursor under the Preview window in Project mode for a multiple clip scan.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Thanks, but it's not what I meant: I'd like to actually listen to the video so I know when to stop, but just at a faster rate so I can save time editing.
Surely, Corel can do that?

Yes it can. Go to Preferences > Edit > "Enable Audio while Scrubbing" and tick the box. You will still need to "fast forward" yourself.
There is also a speed control for speeding up or slowing down a clip but this is aimed at providing special effects in the final video and not really meant for temporary speeding through a project. This is in Options for a chosen clip.

Thanks. In X5, it's actually Settings > Preferences.
It's better, but still not what I was looking for: I want Corel to play the video faster by just clicking on Play.
Currently, the work-around I found is to play the file in VLC, which supports faster playing, and go back and forth between VLC and Corel :-/
