VideoStudio Pro X7 - Overlays anyone?

Post by pirotess »

Hi,
This is my first post :)

I hope you can help me. I'm trying to do an overlay (at least i think it is an overlay) of two videos. The idea is the following:
-In one video I have one man talking, on the second video I have another man also talking. I want to select the man on the second video and put him on the first video as if they were talking to each other. I would need to just select the man, since both videos have a background, and integrate him with the background of the first video.

Is this possible? I tried the user manual but it's not very clear :(

thank you.

Best regards!

Have you recorded the second man using chroma key? If not you may need to swap from one to the other. I suggest you split the audio and control that separately.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

No, i haven't. i read about overlays but wasn't getting the result i wanted. So i have to use chroma key to do what i want?

Can i select the contour of the man and just "paste" it on the first movie using chroma key? Like I select the man, record him using chroma key and then paste it on the first movie? is that what you mean?

thank you for the quick answer! :)

No you cannot select just the contour of the people and paste them into a video - you can only film the people against a green or blue screen and then use Chroma key to make the green/blue transparent and show only the person.

What you want to do is possible - but you need to plan from the very beginning - even before you start filming - if you have two different people with two different backgrounds then what you want to do will be very difficult even for an experienced video editor - and I'm afraid you are not coming across as experienced

that the movies are already made. no changing them. i want to trim part of them and then some of those parts i plan to overlay.

this isn't possible with corel?

is it possible to "paint" the movie green leaving the part i want untouched and then paste it to the first movie making the gree. transparent? :?

Hi, what you are looking for is CROP function, but unfortunately it isn't working very well on overlays.
You better make a mask (a bmp) with half the screen white and half black.

each 1 second of your video has 25 images in it - 1500 per minute - all slightly different - you will need to 'paint' each and every one of them - are you ready for that ??

Well the only way I know is to export each individual frame as an image - then take it into Photoshop/Paintshop/whatever you have - then colour it and put it back in the timeline

a really long and tedious business

I think you are just going to have to accept that each half of your screen will have a different background

as I said before - it is very difficult to do it just taking two unrelated videos and trying to make it as two people talking - you really need to plan from before you start filming the first person

my only suggestion now is to do it in cut-away format where the video switches from person to person as they talk - much like many TV interviews are done when they only have one camera in a remote location.

hum...
gonna search for that

removing the background also has to be the same way right? export each image and remove the background?
