Insufficient memory [15036:0:0] When selecting FX

Post by Pyroteknix »

Hello,

I am looking for some help if possible. I just bought VSx7 Pro and after installation I am unable to use many of the FX video filters. When I click on the filter I immediately get the following error.

Image

VSX717.1.0.22 (64bit Pro)

Source Files:
GoPro Hero2
Transferred by SD Card
MPEG - 4
Video data rate 49900
Audio MP3

Project Properties:
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 2500 Kbps, 16:9
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

I would really appreciate any help I can get.

Some things to consider:

A search of the forum shows that VS seem to through this error for a verity of reasons.
Physical memory not being top of the list. Virtual Memory has been mentioned, though vaguely. In the old days, we used to adjust virtual memory to try to get more power (for gaming, for example) out of our systems. Success varied from system, and the consensus became that, in general, letting Windows decide the size of virtual memory was best.
Updating video drivers is also mentioned. A good idea, because we don't know what memory the error refers to. In fact fully updated systems are also mentioned as a good idea.
Do you have anything major running as well as VS? And, of course, there is the general house cleaning routine of clearing temp files.

Hopefully some better answers will come along.

Thank you Bobp,

Considering that I have 10GB of RAM I agree that memory is not the issue. I have checked all of my drivers and it is all the latest and greatest. I also uninstalled VS and re-installed just in case something was corrupted during install. I also don't have any other SW running. The more troubleshooting I do the more problems I discover I am having with this program in particular and it really has me scratching my head. I tried to use the auto pan & zoom feature on a photo and it caused VS to crash with an error message saying a run-time environment error had occurred. I updated my Java to the latest version and it still crashes with the same error. There are also many of the transitions that will not work, some tell me my graphics card will not support that feature.

I really don't know what to think. I find it hard to believe that a Radeon 7450 won't support some transitions. It seems like there is something that I am missing that may be causing all of these problems. I have used Corel products before and have never had this many issues. I am feeling very disappointed in the product so far. I have a case open with Corel at this point and I am hoping they can help, if not I may be getting a refund and going a different route for video SW...

I think a run time error is more of a Windows problem than a Java problem. If I remember, VS installs visual c++ run time. Perhaps there is a mismatch between that version of runtime and one installed by other software. The text of the runtime error might be helpful. As well as other errors.
I wonder if a look at event viewer would help. Someone else had a memory problem caused by a dll problem. Sometimes event viewer will point to what causes an error.
