Add Ram now Studio stalls
I ordered 8 gig of new ram to install on my desktop so I now have 12gig. I figured it would make programs like Studio 7 operate much better.
Not so, now I can even add files to start a new project without stalling ( not responding ) the program. Now I know that sounds crazy but I don't know if its now a Ram issue or a Studio issue.
Has anyone ever upgraded their Ram and ran into this problem?

Re: Add Ram now Studio stalls
I doubled my RAM from 8GB to 16GB and have had no issues with any of my programs.
When you open Control Panel/System, how much RAM does it say you have installed and did you ensure that your new RAM Modules are compatible for your computer.
It is unlikely to be a Video Studio problem, more likely to be incorrect RAM sticks/ bad sticks or incorrectly seated sticks. Remove the new sticks and see if the problem persists

System shows 12gig of RAM. I went to the Crucial.com com site and they had a program that would scan my computer and tell me what type of ram was compatible with my computer. so I went with their recommendations on 2 4 gig cards

Ok, remove the new ram sticks, then launch VS, if you can then import video clips without stalling, then that would confirm that the issue is with the new ram, if you still cannot import then that would indicate an issue with VS or an issue with the clips you are trying to import

Re: Add Ram now Studio stalls
OK, so I pulled the new RAM back out, started Studio again and have the same problem. But I never had this problem before until I put the new RAM in so I figured there was something wrong with the configuration of the RAM.
Now, I'm going to uninstall Studio, install all the new RAM back in, then Re-install Studio and see what happens. Don't know what else to do at this point because Studio won't work either way now.

By the way, I should have mentioned that I also have a 5.0 version of Studio on this machine that I tried and it too has the same issues. They both stall after importing one video and trying to import the second.
Thought I would pass that on for what it might be worth

Re: Add Ram now Studio stalls
Is it always the same video that causes the problem or does it happen with any video? Ist it always the 2nd video you add?

Re: Add Ram now Studio stalls
yes, but here is what I am finding out. These videos came from a download from Dropbox. So I tried some about 6 or 7 other videos that were on my hard rive and am not having that problem. So maybe those video files from Dropbox got corrupted.
One video in particular. I just happened to be downloading that video second because it was the next in line for what I was going to create. So I went back in and tried to download that second video first, and it locked up the Studio again.
So that particular video must be corrupt, I don't really see what else it could be. But I've never had corrupt videos lock up my machine like that before, so I guess the process of elimination worked.

Re: Add Ram now Studio stalls
Why would downloading from Dropbox lock up VS? Or do you mean that you are adding the video in VS? "Downloading" means getting the video via the internet from websites. You do not "download" video from your computer to VS.
Does the downloaded problem video play on your computer via WMP or VLC?

I download the video from Dropbox to my hard drive first, then import the video into VS.
