PSP X (very old version) and Lenovo Yoga huge resolution!

Post by crisps21 »

Hi there,
I have been using PaintShopPro X for about 6 years now. Bought it way back then, and didn't want to upgrade.
Yesterday, I installed it on my Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 laptop and because it's such an old version and this laptop has the resolution of 3200X1800, I'm having display issues.
When I used to open a 700X700 blank canvas in PSP X on my Desktop PC with the resolution 1920X1080, the canvas used to open in a corner of PSP and there was plenty of space for me to work... opening different files at the same time... AND the canvas opened to 100% instead of zoomed out.
Now when I open the same canvas on this higher resolution, it opens up at 74% and I can't work on it because everything's at 74% and blurry :(
I KNOW it's an older version not supported by Corel anymore, but I thought someone might be able to help?
My Desktop was also running Windows 8.1, so I'm sure it's not a Windows problem. It's probably a display issue which I'm unable to solve.
I tried going back to the 1920X1080 resolution, but apart from making all my icons look HUGE, it didn't make any difference to the PSP display.
ANY help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I will have to go get a higher version of PSP :(

Does rolling the mouse wheel to change the scaling work and does that make any difference?

Scrolling the mouse wheel only made the icons/text smaller in a browser. Did absolutely nothing in PSP.
But we figured it out!!!
Hubby went to the Control Panel and there was an option of making text smaller/larger.
My laptop was at 250% of the normal display!!
I brought it down to 150% and everything was fixed!!!
Just thought it might help someone else having the same issues!

I've had a similar issue trying to use PSPX6 on a 27" Retuna iMac (via Parallels).

The toolbars and icons and even menu boxes that pop up don't scale to sit a very high res display. The workspace is huge, but the poor scaling makes it unusable.

Sadly I'm having to consider other options which is such a shame as I loved PSP to use.

Corel, if you read these you really must make your programs suitable for HiRes displays, they are becoming more and more common especially in photography!

Same issue. Yoga Pro 3 and there are so many things that don't scale right. Some are just unreadable.

Why has this not been addressed yet? This is a serious concern with the many greater than 1080p displays out there now. And I would hope X6 hasn't been abandoned as I bought it less than a year ago. The sales rep's recommendation to mention it in the x8 wish list was unacceptable. Why would I give Corel any more money when this product can't get proper support?
