Problems with old version of PSP

Post by Artlor »

I don't know if I should ask here or not....but I got a free version of PaintShopPro 10 and have a registration number for it in my Corel account and I can not get the program to start ...I am not sure what if anything I might be able to do...I asked at Corel and they said they don't deal with out dated programs and to check here to see if you might be able to help or not. Thanks ...Artlor (Lorraine_

Your questions are a little vague. You say 'you got a version of PSPX" ...... it must have belonged to someone else and therefore registered in that person's name. When a registration number is put into the software it also registers with your PC registry or something like that. Often those who hack the programmes get similar problems.
When you say the registration number is in your account, did you do this from installation?
When you say it won't open what's happening exactly? Do you get any error messages? What's your OS?

I'm sorry that I seemed vague...but I had got the program from an online download and it was free and there was a reqistration number with it...but I have uninstalled it and have purchased a copy that will come in it's own packaging...so I will have a hard copy. I just have to wait for it to arrive...and it is suppose to have an original registration number with it. This is an older version of PaintSho and corel doesn't deal with them anymore....but as I said I uninstalled the copy that I had in question and hopefully the one I purchased will be ok. I am not sure if you are saying that I hacked the program but if you are there isn't much I can say other than I wouldn't know how to if I wanted. Thanks anyway. Artlor (Lorraine)

I don't think Trueblue was saying you did hack it. It was a statement that this issue your having is a consequence of hacking.
But sins you've moved on it's irrelevant now.

On other not. like you say Coral don't support earlier version. This means ALL earlier versions up to the current X7 Version. Meaning you want get help from them for anything older.

I'm not going to recommend getting X7, It's a poor example of this product, full of issues that aren't in earlier versions. Annoying changes to the UI are some but constant crashing and failing to pickup on nodes, layers are also constant issues with X7.
But going to old will get you issues with compatibility with Win7. older XP versions will crash often as well. You can run them in compatibility mode in Win7 which will try to run in XP. It's helps but it's not great either.
I use X6. I do have and paid for X7 but can't stand it's rubbish issues.
I have X4 as well but that has it's own issues with the current Win7 build.

I've been using Paintshop from PSP8 JASC, before Coral bought them out. I have a list a mile long of what's wrong and/or better (IMO) of the newer versions. To date X7 is the worst! Not holding my breath that X8 will surprise.

All is revealed now. No version of PaintShop Pro is available online for free with a serial number. This is a hacked programme. I'm not saying you hacked it, but someone else did and offered it online for free. Usually these programmes also come with trojans and or viruses, so you may want to recheck your PC to check it's clean.

Thanks so much for all your help....I have checked my pc and all is fine so far. I was after version ten for testing scripts for others...I currently use 9, X2 and X4 so I thought I would like to add another version that the scripters are requesting for testers in. But I want to thank you again for your help. Lorraine (Artlor)
