Some transitions aren't working

Post by Pyroteknix »

Hello,

I am a new user of VSX7 pro and am working on my first editing project. When I try to insert a transition some work, and some do not. For example the crossfade and fade to black transitions just get skipped over in preview mode. Also the edit options for these transitions are grayed out and I can't adjust any settings for them. Is there something simple I am missing here please help.

Those are the two transitions I use most of the time and they have always worked, no exception. And there are no settings for them as they do what they say, cross fade between clips and fade to black. The only thing you can adjust is their duration. How long have you set for them? I normally set them to between 1 and two seconds, though since the fade to black would normally be followed by a black colour panel I mainly set it to 1 second.

Sometimes, when viewing your clips in Project mode, some of the transitions don't appear to work correctly, but after rendering a project they are (usually) always there. If you want to see for yourself, make a short project using those transitions and render it to see if they work...

Thanks for the reply Ken. I also thought that maybe it was just a preview issue so I tried to render and I get the following error.

Image

This doesn't happen unless I use one of the transitions that won't load in preview mode. If I use a transition that works in preview then the project renders pefectly.

Hi

Seems very strange that you are also seeing that error, I would suspect either the program is not installed correctly, even so seems odd, or maybe a problem with your graphics driver, is your Operating System up to date as regards Windows Updates, also check Optional Updates for other updates?

If you select other library clips, Video, photo, Audio, do you have any problems inserting them to the timeline.

Can you try resetting the library, go to Settings – Library Manager – Reset Library.
Can you provide screen shots of your library pages so we can compare………..

There is a process to re-set the workstation back to its default factory state.
Renaming a folder called 17.0 to “17.0_old”, running Video Studio will generate a new folder.

Located here:-
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro, for 32 bit
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\17.0
The folder structure is hidden by windows, but Start – Search for %appdata% should find the Roaming folder

Thanks lata,

I have already uninstalled and re-installed the program as I was thinking the same thing but it did not help. I also have checked my graphics drives and Windows updates and everything is current.

I do not have any issues inserting any other media into the projects. I do however have some problems with some of the FX filters telling me I have insufficient memory (I have 10GB of memory installed). I also noticed last night that when I try to use the auto pan & zoom feature VS crashes with a run-time exception error. I have already updated my Java and it did not resolve the issue.

I tried resetting the library like you suggested but it didn't help. I am not sure what you mean by screenshots of my library can you explain that further? I don't think setting the workstation back to defaults will help as I have a fresh install.

I can't help but think all of these issues are connected somehow. Everything else on my PC is working great just not this program. I have opened a case with Corel but have yet to get a response.

Hi

Yep I agree that all issues will be connected somewhere.

Re-Installing Video Studio does not always remove all files, I do know that the 17.0 folder may be left over.?

By re-naming that folder will generate a new one when starting VS.
You can always return to the original folder by deleting the 17.0 then re-naming the “17.0_old” again

I would try re-naming that folder, not that I am to enthusiastic but worth a try?

Hi

Some time ago I had a lot of problems with a Lenovo laptop, the details can be seen here.
http://lata.me.uk/corel/lenovo/lenovo.htm
Brand new computer so no reason to suspect graphics drivers?

Interestingly the first image on my page shows that Unable to Load to library error.

The remainder of the page shows other errors I had.
