Grab corners to resize image problem

When I try to grab one of the corners on an image I want to downsize or upsize, I get a distorted image rather than a regular rectangle. Can't figure out what I did wrong or how to undo it. The symbol I see when I grab a corner is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, - just the shape I will get of my image if I move the corner. Hope someone can tell me how to fix it. Thanks.

Sorry, but I posted a question just a few minutes ago that I have finally figured out on my own. I had somehow turned off the scale and had perspective selected on my tool bar. Sorry for the inconvenience, and please delete my question.

If resizing an image it's always advisable to use Image, Resize. You will get a far better result.
