X3 Audio issues/5.1 surround
Hi,
I'm new to VideoStudio and have been experiencing some issues. I am running version X3 (the one that came installed on my computer).
I'm trying to export a file in 5.1 surround sound, but there is no option for that when I go to create the file, even though it says online that you can output as such. Also, I was using .wav files, but after I export (in stereo, as there was no 5.1 option), I only get a high-pitched buzzing sound from my entertainment system (on the computer, it works fine during playback); this may because my BD player doesn't read .wav, but I don't know how it would distinguish that when it is part of a video.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Jason

Hi Jason
A little concerned that the program that came with the pc is a SE version, which may be limited in its functions.
What are the properties of your original video file, right click a clip and choose properties, what are they?
You could create an image of that window and attach to your post.?
What Camcorder are you using?
Hopefully they are compliant to creating a disc MTS types….
Try using Settings Make Movie Templates Manager to create a new template.
Choose New – File Format as MPEG Transport-Stream Files
You should be able to set DD 5.1 surround sound.( 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)
You could try the Add option, browse for your video file, may work, after creating do not edit this template, that may cause the template to revert to Standard Definition
Share Create Video File will show your templates at the bottom of the list, next to Custom.
Using X3 Share Create Disc
Corel really messed up with this program, the authoring section (DVD Factory Pro 2010) is pretty poor, that’s being polite.
Corel did provide a free update to DVD MF7SE.
You should install Service Pack 1 then you should be given the choice to install DMF7SEforVSX3.exe
That module is very similar as using the Share Create Disc option for the latest Video Studio versions.
If you are working with High Definition and intending to burn Bluray then consider purchasing the latest version. At least give the trial a run.

Re: X3 Audio issues/5.1 surround
Hi, Trevor...thanks for the response!
I'm actually not burning to DVD--I'm saving to computer and just storing on a flash drive. The video is coming out fine.
The file is actually not from a camcorder. I'm doing a fan edit of a Blu-ray movie, and I did most of it already on avs4you, but I'm encountering obstacles on that as they limit audio channels in the audio mix to five, so I can't get the center channel.
The video format is .mov and the audio from the BD is originally DTS-HD, but mpeg-2/4 when I export it in avs4you (the clip I'm testing has the complete 5.1 as it's from the early phase of my project, but I need to use different audio...it's a long story).
I'll download the patch, but any further advice would be awesome!
Thanks!

Trevor,
I've been looking for the service pack and can't find it. Do you know if it's still available?
Thanks!

Hi
Check for updates from the program
Open the Corel Guide, circular icon –top right—
Then select the Cogwheels again top right -- Choose check for updates.
That should find – download and install any outstanding Service Packs.
Although as mentioned earlier you may have a SE version of the program.
Choose About Corel Video Studio, what does it show as the version, ending with a number starting 13.*.*.*

Re: X3 Audio issues/5.1 surround
Tried that, and it said there were no updates.
Online, it says the service pack is version 13.6.2.21, and my version is lower than that; I can't remember exactly off the top of my head, but it's 13.6.0.something.
That's odd, but I'll keep looking.
Thanks again!

Hi
Run Video Studio X3 – Share Create Disc
Does that give you two options
DVD Factory Pro 2010
DVD Movie Factory 7SE…
If you are up to date you should see the latter, the Pro 2010 is rubbish
Otherwise Pro 2010 will run.

Re: X3 Audio issues/5.1 surround
I opened the program and, instead of choosing Advanced Edit, I chose DV to DVD (the only other option). It still said there were no updates.
I did download the incentives package that came with registering the program, but even after installing it, I don't know how to access it.
As far as the 5.1 surround, I did notice with MPEG output, there is an option for Dolby Digital Audio and under it a drop-down box with 2/0 (L,R) grayed out. I'm assuming there's 5.1 in there, but it won't let me look. Problem with the MPEG, though, is that it doesn't allow me the output specs I want, like a 23.9 FPS, and I don't know how the video resolution is going to be.
It's beginning to look like I can't get the features I want without going to a later version, but I've already paid for avs4you, and I really don't feel like paying for another program for just one feature.
As always, thank you for your help and recommendations, Trevor!

Re: X3 Audio issues/5.1 surround
Hi Jason
I am still concerned that the X3 version is a SE version and as such cut down, not fully functioning.
I don’t know who provided that program, but some software are bungled with hardware?
When I open X3 I see this Start Screen, clearly you are missing the Burn and Easy edit.
Not that the Factory 2010 is any good, I would not use those and opt for the Advanced Edit
That opens the main editing timelines.
As I said top left Disc to open the Corel Guide, then the cogwheels to Check for Updates.
That should download any available. Then your version may not qualify for updates to DVDMF 7SE?
Corel have a Facebook account, you could ask there, the Facebook as far as I know is staffed by Corel employees, unfortunately X3 is quite old and no longer supported by Corel, but you never know?
Your best option is to give the X7 trial a run

Yeah, I don't have those other two options (and I have been using the Advanced Edit). I'll try the FB page. Thanks!
