I have the same problems as reported by others (even after 5in1 upgrade);
1. Program crashes during burn.
2. Program runs slowly
3. Picture quality on DVD poor (dark, mushy) I managed to get one slide (19mb) on DVD
4. Burns at slow speed (2x on 8x recorder) 10 minutes for above slide.

My computer is 2.4Ghz with 1gb RAM and at least 4 GB free disk space (I know, I'm looking for a new hd)

I'll wait 2 weeks to see if there is an upgrade that works, if not - I'm sending it back (it came with 30 day guarantee). The more of us that do this, the sooner that Ulead gets the message.

I don't have the time to discover "work arounds" that may not always work, and require that you forego some features that we paid for.

Good luck!

For the crash problem, please use AVICodec to know what audio/video CODEC packs are installed in your system. Some of them might crash video/DVD authoring programs.

Hope this helps.

H.T. Ni Hao!

Thanks for your quick reply and advice (AVICodec looks like a very useful tool), but I do have some problems with it;

1. I do not want to spend much more time on learning how to use this program. I paid for it to run as advertized.
2. I have no interest in learning about codecs at this time. I just want to put my pictures in a slide show.
3. Even if I run AVIcodec, will it tell me which CODEC packs may "crash the video/DVD authoring program"? It did successfully record a one picture slide with animation/music/etc - so I would imagine that identifying the guilty CODEC pack would be a problem.

Again, thanks for your interest in this problem.

For anyone who is still following this thread, I downloaded a free trial (full program - 11MB!) of ProShow Gold and it installed/ran/burned without one misstep (and fast - and picture quality very good). A bit more expensive at $69, but cheap if you consider the time saved. It looks like I'll be calling Ulead for an RMA real soon.

Regards - george

Its a pile of junk. I've been working to get mine working for 3 weeks straight - somtimes up to 2-3 hours/day. The technical support has been terrible - all I get is generic help, like upgrade your drivers, dissable you virus checker, etc. No one ever bothers to actually help me with my specific problem. For example, it usually crashes during the disc imaging step - even when I am just writing to the hard disk. Their response, its got to be my incompatible CD burner - - upgrade my drivers..Hmmm that makes a lot of sense. I'm try to return mine if possible. Maybe they'll start to get the message

In that case everyone complaining on this forum must have incompatible CD/DVD writers and out of date drivers.

What rubbish, the problem is that they have a product that seems to work when you download the trial version. Then once you have laid out your cash and bought the full version you find that its incapable of handling any projects bigger than the limits in the trial version.

I have also sent a technical query and so far got NO REPLY, the time here in the UK is now almost 4pm, the email was sent to them via their web form at 10 this morning.

I wonder how many others have bought this program and not found these forums ?

One more thing to add is that it is issues like this where you lay out your money for programs that dont work that will encourage people to find and use pirate software. !

I was upgrading version 2 to version 3.
I spent 9 minutes on Tech support @60p/minute-disable antivirus, close down un-necessary aplications, and download the burning drivers.
As I downloaded 214mb yesterday - you would assume it was up to date!

I have used version 2 today and it worked!

Notice the size of the slideshows - in version 3 they are huge [3gb] in version 2 [0.3gb]
This is the problem with me, the work is 10 times bigger on v3, so you can only fit on the DVD 1/10 of what I can with version 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
