X7 SP 1 BUG Exif

Post by steje44 »

Hello,

I bought every new Version of PSP.

Today I installed the Sp1 and I have a problem.

I have Lightroom and open in the libary a photo (tif) with the extern PSP X7.

Now PSP open the Picture, BUT I have no exif-data in the Picture. Lost all of them.

Before the SP1 was installed this work perfect .

Open a Picture in Lightoom with PSP make change in PSP an save the tif back.
All Exif was there...!

Any Ideas ??

I am finding something similar with Canon DPP.
I will investigate tomorrow.

This is what I have found (but it is a little tricky to interpret):-

Prior to PSPX7 SP1 Version 17.1.0.72 no such problems occurred. (I was on version 17.1.0.28)

since installing SP1:-
8-bit TIFFs are not affected.
16-bit TIFFs lose EXIF Metadata when they are read and lose even more when written as JPEGs.

More specifically:-
16-bit TIFF contains AUTHOR, COPYRIGHT and DATE TAKEN.
PSP shows AUTHOR and COPYRIGHT in Image Information (EXIF) but not DATE TAKEN.
JPG written by PSP from TIFF shows NONE of these 3 FIELDS.

Using EXIFER the DATE TAKEN is showing as 1899 12:30 in the JPG written.
EXIFER shows the correct AUTHOR, COPYRIGHT and DATE TAKEN in the original TIFF.
There is no IPTC data showing in EXIFER.

I use SilkyPix for RAW file conversion, saving the results as 16-bit uncompressed tiff files, with Exif information recorded in the tiffs. In PSPX7SP1 when I open these tiffs, the Exif data is no longer visible. The problem started with installation of SP1. This means I can no longer use PSPX7 for my images. I still have PSPX3 so I can use that - if I open the same tiffs in PSPX3 I see all the exif data.

Hi all: Thanks for letting us know about this. This is something we're aware of and the dev team is looking into a fix now. If you have done any additional testing or have more to add, please include it as part of this thread so the team can track it. I'll circle back with an update as soon as I hear back.

A hotfix arrived in my email from Corel today so I installed the hotfix on top of X7 SP1 and it has fixed the Exif problem nicely for me. All my tiff Exif data has returned. Good work Corel, many thanks :)
