VideoStudio pro X7 stops rendering at 98%

Post by delboy_c »

Hey guy's,

Please can someone help me. Basically, I have made a 2 minute video clip using Corel VideoStudio Pro X7 Ultimate. The files used are MPEG4. Along with photo stills. When I attempt to upload the video to say YouTube, the file renders to 98% and each and every time has caused my computer stops at precisely 98%. I have to go to task manager where it states "COREL NOT RESPONDING".

What's so frustrating is I have done nothing different the last few weeks, why now has it done this? more importantly what can I do to fix it. Here is what I have done so far.

Deleted Corel and completely re-installed - No effect. problem occurs at exactly 98% every time (over 20 attempts now).

Deleted all other recently downloaded software, including Corel Draw/photo. - Again problem persists. Updated my laptop (Windows 8)

I cant think of anything else and its driving me nuts.

Please someone have the answer :-)

Hi

Rather than using the Web option create your own video file.

Share – top left change Same as Project to Same as First Video, that’s assuming the option is available.

Otherwise try

Share – Mpeg4 use the “MPEG-4 AVC (1280 x 720, 25p, 10Mbps)”

Does that render ok.

If yes log-on to your YT account and upload the video?

I have the exact same RANDOM problem. It's existed in X5 X6 and now X7, so I am hoping there is a patch for this bug. I have VS Pro X7 64 bit. but like I said, same thing happened on previous versions. VERY annoying. Basically, I have a project, say 10 tracks. But it could be ONE track too. Everything imports fine, you can edit fine, no issues. THEN you do to render, and SOMETIMES, it hangs right at 99% on the rednder. I can only kill the app thru Task Mgr. I then go thru EACH file, removing them from the project until I find the culprit. It's always a random thing. People send me video clips and I put it all together. Could be MOV, 3gp, MP4, MPEG, whatever..... Is there a fix, please??? I never used this board before and am hoping someone has an answer. This makes the product useless really, if you go thru hours or days editing and THEN it hangs on render. Very irritated with it and I've been a big supporter of this product forever....

Oh, and I am creating the file, not going to YouTube directly.... Its just the basic render hangs at 99% on ONE file in a project and I never know WHICh file.... All files play clean by themselves...

Thanks, Bruce

Hi Bruce

Editing different formats in the same project can cause problems.
Many video formats are highly compressed, more suitable for playback on the net’ rather than being edited.
Some manufacturers do provide converters, or advise that we convert their video to a more editable format.
Not a lot going for us when mixing formats.

You mention having problems with a single track, what are the properties of those video files.
Corel did provide some “HotFixes” for I believe some Mov and GoPro types, to fix playback of frames showing black.
Do a search of the Corel knowledge base………

Video Studio X7 does allow us to set the project properties for MPEG4, unlike earlier versions, they were limited to AVI and Mpeg2. so it may be best to set those to match your output format.
You don’t say but I assume you are rendering to MPEG4

When rendering don’t use Smart Render, given that you have a variety Smart Render is not gonna do much, and best deselected.

If you can identify any troublesome formats you will be best using a video converter to create a more editable format before adding to VS.

I've had this happen multiple times as well. I've turned Smart render on, I've turned it off. I've attmepted to render to .avi, mpeg-2, mpeg4, .mov, .mpeg. I've had it happen on videos that were only one video type and ones that had mixed media (photos, videos, gifs). I've had it redner anywhere from 72% to 98%.

The only ONLY thing I've found that fixes it? Remove your music. If you have any music or voice over files, take them out and attempt to render it. That usually works for me.

And the worst thing is it won't happen on all music files. Only certain ones that I've yet to find a correlation. I've tried files I've downloaded versus audio I've made and both will either work or not work. It's frustrating, so I understand your pain. Just make sure you're saving a project before rendering in case it fails and try removing out the audio files. If that doesn't work, then I'm out of ideas. :/

It has been known for quite a few versions now that Video Studio does not "like" mp3 audio made using the LAMEmp3 codec. In our experience, if you have trouble with audio, it is always best to either produce it in standard .wav format, or use an audio editor, such as the freeware Audacity, to convert your audio to .wav.

Got the same problem over here!

Most project are working fine, now I have a project and exact 46% is stops rendering. freezes and cpu percentage of Vstudio is 25% exact.

I removed all the stills and tried to render fails
i removed the music and tried to render fails
I removed the movies and stills around the 46% fails

I render an old video to be sure corel can render, works ok... .

Filmed everyting with an Iphone 5 and a Iphone 6. Photos are a mix of iphone 5 and 6.

is there a relation between mixing iphone 5 and 6 and corel? Is there e possibility to upload the whole video project and ask someone of corel to take a look at it? (wetransfer)

Can you right click on one of the iPhone 5 and one of the iPhone 6 clips in the Video Studio timeline, please, and then upload ALL of its Properties here -- or else take a screen grab of the Properties box and upload it here as an Attachment. It is possible that your iPhones film using a variable frame rate, and Video Studio has difficulties with that.

after removing file 2, the rendering continues and stops at another clip. The only difference is the framerate. both "infected" movies are 30,008 frames/sec.

now trying to render the project again....

As I suspected, those Properties do indeed indicate that your phones use variable frame rates. They are close to "standard" frame rates but just a small amount off, and that is probably enough to make Video Studio stop when it reaches them. All I can suggest is that you use a Video Converter to convert them with the same Properties but with a standard frame rate e.g. 29.97 frames per second (which is the exact figure required for the NTSC standard, though often shown as "30"). Maybe you could even use QuickTime Pro for the conversion if you have it. Otherwise, you would need a video converter. Many of us here use the freeware Format Factory which does a good job, including with .mov files. Just be careful when installing it to Decline the offers of installing other toolbars/search engines during the installation process.

I am not sure what to suggest doing with the 24.003 video. While an exact 24 fps is regarded as being the "cinematic" frame rate, 25 fps is the standard rate for PAL. However, if you are converting the rest to 29.97 fps, this could later cause difficulties mixing in a slower frame rate. If you converted the 24.003 fps to 29.97, this is usually done by simply repeating existing frames. If the video in those clips is relatively slow or static, this might not really be noticeable, and it could in fact be that your phone used that slower frame rate because there was no action being filmed. If there is a lot of action, however, those repeated frames will make that video a little jerky.

The rendering works now, you have to convert/remove the clips prior to the crash. I uses handbrake and converted it into Ipad format and added again. Only two movies were incorrect.

Still weird that it can't handle the files.

Hi. Did anyone find a solution to this problem in the end. Mine stops at 99% with each render format. All clips are from the same source and have rendered fine in the past. I'm using x7.
Is the latest version free of these problems? I've spent a few hours on this edit so it's a shame to start again in other software.
Thanks, I know it's an old post.
