PSP x6 hangs on loading

Post by Petejan57 »

Hi

Out the blue today the programme stopped working. I had uploaded the newest ATI Raedon series 7 200 driver a few days ago and thought it maybe that. I spent ages trying to remove the driver and roll back to no real avail, so decided to uninstall PSP, reinstall and go from there.

I reinstalled the programme and the service packs and on starting up it worked fine. ON adding the creative pack and paint lite etc and starting up it up it hung again.

I removed them one by one and still the programme hangs. I now just have the base programme but on start up it still hangs with the little blue circle spinning in the back ground. It has to be shut down via task manager.

I am running windows 8.1 and have a reasonably high end machine as I also do video editing.

Can anyone help me out here.

Ta

Yep, video card driver update could have messed it up, as sometimes Windows updates can as well. Some people have had trouble with their Corel software after updating to .Net Framework 4.5.2- check in Add/Remove Programs to see if it's there and uninstall it. If any program needs it and can't find it then you will be prompted to get it. .Net Framework 4.5.1 should be OK.
If this doesn't work, you should do a clean install using one of the Corel Clean Up tools listed here. Remember to restart your computer after removing the program so the registry is cleared before you re-install. http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=52337

Hi Rondo

Thanks for the reply, I worked on your suggestions to no avail. I dont seem to have .net.framework installed or it isnt obvious in add remove programmes. I also tried a clean removal using the tools on the topic hyper-link. I tried this uninstall and re-install around 5 or 6 times and on each occasion it loaded no problem first time and on each subsequent re-load it would hang with the spinning blue disc in the middle. On each occasion I had to switch it off with task manager.

I have also tried a system restore and ATI identifies there is a new driver to be downloaded, which I havent done again.

WE are still at square one and I cannot think what I may have done to cause what appears to be a conflict with software. As as I said yesterday it just came out of the blue.

Any further suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Probably the video card driver then if not a Windows update. To double check, under Programs and Features look for Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5.2 again. Those are the only two things I've ever had mess up my programs. For the video card driver, you can try the new one or roll back to the last one that didn't cause the problem with PSP. System Restore doesn't change any drivers I believe.
