Video Grabber
Hello everyone, my name is Dave and I have a problem. Having upgraded (electronically) to VideoStudio X7 Ultimate, from X6 ultimate, I am struggling using video grabber. Previously using X6 I could upload camcorder tape to video studio with no problem. Since the upgrade however, I can upload the video but there is no sound. I have looked at the `options`, and it seems the only choice for the audio is Line in (High Definition Audio). Now I also have Power Director on my computer (this software isn't very good at all by the way), and tried the video grabber with this and it worked. Checking the audio options it worked with Dexetek Polaris (what ever that is), but when I selected Line in, the sound was missing. Can someone please help and advise me what to do, and why has Corel only got the Line in option. Thank you in anticipation for any help in this matter. Dave Cooper

Re: Video Grabber
Is this "Video Grabber" something along the lines of Ezycap - a device which takes the signal from your video camera and feeds it via a USB port into your computer - how is it connected to your camera - which wires and sockets.
A Google search tells me that Dexetek is the firm which makes the driver for a video grabber - if you use that does it capture the sound - if yes then why not just use that and import to VideoStudio for editing - often video grabbers are tweaked to only work with the supplied software
VideoStudio records from a number of sound sources - you only need to use the line in of your computer in certain circumstances.
why particularly do you need to use a video grabber - what camcorder do you have

Re: Video Grabber
Hello Brian Cee, and thank you for the very prompt reply. The camcorder is connected (as you say), with the three Red, White and yellow plugs, then via USB port in to the computer. My camcorder is a Sony Handycam Hi8, and as I have said, copied tapes to the X6 with no problem. I use the video grabber as I don't know any other way to upload my video tapes. You are right about Dexetek, the program (Power Director) comes with the driver cd for the video grabber. The reason I don't use Power Director is because the software is very basic. Are you able to help me with a solution please. Thank you for your time, David Cooper

Re: Video Grabber
Well as I said in my previous post the best way forward is to capture with the Dexetek programme copying the video to your computer hard drive and the simply insert/import them to VideoStudio to do all your editing.
